Four new beaches opened

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning has opened four beaches in Wakrah,
Al-Khor, Semeisima and al-Kharayij (in Umm Bab district) after revamping the facilities in collaboration with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal). All the beaches have been cordoned with steel railings and have an adequate number of toilets, raised platforms for barbecuing, play areas for children, playgrounds for football and volleyball, beach umbrellas and canopies.

------------------------------------------------------------

Think I will have to go and find these new beaches. Has anyone got any idea where they are? Are they signposted? How long will I have to drive around Wakrah, Al-Khor, Semeisima and al-Kharayij before I find something that looks like a new beach?

Thing is, I don't know where Honda Showroom was, and have never heard of it before you mentioned it, but Ramada Junction is synonymous with giving directions to almost anywhere in Doha.

Drive straight through the village from the main road and when you reach the coast this new facility is on the left. Not a new beach but facilities on the shore. Signposted 'Family Beach' so it might be that single guys are not permitted?

The 'beach' is very flat so depending on the tide (which varies every day - it is not constant as per a post above) you can have a long trudge to get wet.

Yeah, TB .. after huge success of Da Vinci code, and upon great public demand.. The director finally decided to come up with "the Bikini Code" .. :p

Thanks HRD. I have never been to Semaisma, and so this is definitely one that I will head for soon.

But your comment brings to the front what I suspected. These are not new beaches. They are beaches that have had a little bit of improving done.

i live 2 minutes away from this beach.. though its not new, facilities has recently been upgraded including bbq areas. There is also a park nearby.

best time to visit is around 5-9pm where the tide is high and best for swimming. do not visit during day time as the tide is too low and you have to walk at least 200m to reach the waters.

I stopped going to the beach only here in Qatar when a lot of 4WDs and Quadbikes almost ran us over plus it destroys the pristineness of the beach.

I will go in search this Friday. In the unlikely event that I find one, I will photograph it and post back here. Think I will start the search in Wakrah, that is the closest. But where in Wakrah?

I have been in Al-Khor recently (about 2/3 months ago) photographing the beaches, but didn't see anything new going on there. If anyone has seen work on beaches taking place in these areas please post directions to them here.

TFS TB! As always an informative bit of news I'd have surely missed otherwise.

If you are coming from Doha to Al-Khor, it's just a 45 min. drive. But have not heard any new beach resort around here.
