Hi, i am filipina i was got married last september 2015 with a Filipino Christian/Catholic. It was just for the sake of my parents, i tried my best to escape philippines because im treating him not good and really worst. so luckily i travelled to Doha Qatar for work, December 2015 i am planning to pursue to continue studying about Islam. because last 3 years i had been there in UAE 2014 and i studied Islam/ and done with my Shahada but i didnt finish it so i dont have certficates with me.

Now im fully converted to islam and practicing really well my religion. all my family cursed me because im the only one who converted. and the Guy i married before he also knew that i am a muslimah now and also cursed and threaten my life. we just talking on Mails because he is working as a Seaman. in his emails he included that " I CANT CHANGE MY RELIGION TO MUSLIM " now.... here is the catch im planning to get marry with my colleague he is an INDIAN MUSLIM . i dont know what should we need to do he knows my situation very well. we want to nullified my 1st marriage, and we want to marry here in Qatar please anyone can give me a very good idea how we will make it.......

All his family are hurry to get marry because we r moving to India also after a year.. please i am pretty sure he is a good sample and an ideal muslim......

we talked already taht im not going back to my country because he is afraid that maybe someone will shoot me there. for me its ok. im already on my age. i dont have enough savings to file an annulment also in philippines and it takes many years to process.

BTW, all my documents are still SINGLE, and i am still using my Family Surname. we dont have any conjugal property, we dont have kids or even monthly support from him i dont have.....

we went to Sharia awhile ago we met, Bro. Sulaiman. but he was in a hurry and he just told us that i must , file a divorce to that christian husband i married before.... so we did we paid 12 QAR for typing the address of him and my address here in doha. then we went to the reception but the problem the islamic certificates is still not with me. so i need to go back to shara again once i receive my certificate...

First of all in my case, the marriage was for the sake of my parents only. but u know the feeling that u cant even face this person .... i felt sad ab out myself so i decided to go Doha... i am pretty sure that i dont have even -1% feelings to that Filipino Christian. My indian fiance is really a good man i can say that he always guide me in our religion just to becpme a better muslimah. this is the kind of person i want in my life ...

and btw brothers and sisters, that filipino christian really hates Islam he is very rude in talking about islam. tahts why he said that he dont want to convert even without asking him to convert.........

THANKS FOR ALL THE COMMENTS it boost my confidence to pursue this .... and wanting to live with my indian fiance in a very happy life.... Insha allah...

Mufti Shahid: In theory , yes. In practice, no. There are many cases where a person has been disowned by the family for changing religion..

Religion is always a personal choice and it is strange that your husband in Philippine would not accept you simply because you changed your religion. The love between husband and wife is not because of their religion. It is bond which transcends religion, ethnicity, country, culture and race.

Correct. There is no divorce in the Philippines, only annulment, and that takes ages and money!

correct me if im wrong but isnt getting a divorce in the Phillipines illegal? i think the only way is to either get an annulment or just go ahead and marry the new guy if you have already set your heart on cutting all ties with family and country. Good luck

This is a sensitive situation. It involves two religions. I do not believe her embassy or her government would allow a divorce to take place officially especially in a situation like hers when she is switching religions.. They will simply drag their feet. I suggest she send him an official and legal notice of divorce with a copy to the authorities in her country through courier service keeping a record of the documents and then proceed with marrying the her new companion under Shariaa. The past can then be left behind and a new happy journey could begin.

I had an Irish colleague who wanted to marry a Filipina (who was seperated from her husband)..

They tried for months to chase up the embassy and do the neccessary paperwork..

In the end they gave up and just got married ... They are living happily ....

you need to request a divorce through your embassy prior to get married again

It is always better to get divorced from your first husband..

Having said that, you can get married in a Shariah Court here in Qatar.. I believe it is al Rayyan..

Also, check with both embassies as to what is legally required from their side.

Good luck
