Driving in Qatar

whats up with people here and reversing??

every time i try to reverse from a parking place, no body gives room. whats up with that? in my country, if someone is reversing, people give room for them. because, it might be you the next time who has to reverse.

but here, everyone honks there horn and try their hardest not to give any room, unless they want that parking spot. just be a little kind people, show some courtesy.

last night, i was turning from a by-road to a main road. no one was on that road except for one LC about 100m away. he was coming slow and i turned. this guy accelerated towards me, and honked his horn as if i had done something wrong!! whats wrong with these people?? answer: BIG EGO!!

Flan has wheels? Man, I gotta get me a ride one of these days if I ever get back in town...

If I was in your place and seen no other car except that LC or Alto I would have let it pass and then entered the main road. What you did was definitely risky for both the road users.I would also feel right if someone honks if I don't have the confidence or patience to reverse[let a block of traffic pass]or reverse in 5 to seven times.

Why blame the others for our folly or lack of patience.

Once I was waiting at a roundabout to enter and there was this foolish gentleman who stopped his car inside the roundabout waving me to go ahead.I just gestured him to continue and all went well. What if another car came and rammed him from behind?Would this drivers reasoning that it is normal in his country to give way to the those entering hold any sway in case of any major accident.

Stop this blame game before it stops you dear.

By nomerci• 1 Mar 2011 13:38
nomerci

By RefinedSoul• 1 Mar 2011 13:36

put a music or statement in reverse gear 'excuse me, give me a room, mine is big' while reversing your car anybody would come to know!!

Reversing has to be done completely blocking that guy... or that MF will try to overtake you... and maybe hit your car and the fault will be with you for reversing...

If you block him he will have to do wait till you finish... ;)

To avoid as much as possible this type of situation, I would do the following:

1. If possible, park without reversing. Go in head first.

2. If not possible, turn on the hazzard light and move as close as possible to the side to let the cars behind pass first. Only start to park after the traffic behind is clear.

that there is an option to eject from the car before we crash.. there are chances of running away from the scene :P

is miserable these days.. follow these rules.

if you are driving on or less 80km/hr use the first 2 lanes.. the third one is only for flying( above 120km/hr) lol..

if some one is flashing lights from behind just give him a way (specially lc's and patrols) or else.. u knw what i mean :P

just watch out for your own safety and your own car.. let others watch for their cars themselves . :)

Its actually very easy to reverse... switch on the ignition...come out of the car... look at the traffic...when it gets lean, get back in the car...reverse and go... its hardly a matter of 1-2 minutes, not more than that.

By Lawahda• 1 Mar 2011 10:36

that here some time its difficult to reverse the car...

Uranus - that tickled my funny bone. :-)

I think it is best for parents to invest in those huge vehicles that carry containers. Not sure what they are called but they always have the ability to run everyone else off the road.

By Khanan• 1 Mar 2011 10:17

Uranus...

I was also looking for something bigger but they are not allowed on road during morning rush hrs..

The only way to survive is to make sure your vehicle weighs the most. I am looking into a cement truck for the school run.
