The media in Qatar
By Annalise_Frank •
I wanted to ask the users of Qatar Living what you think about the media here: TV, newspapers, websites, magazines, etc. Is it your impression that the media is censored, or that it works well? Please respond on this thread or email me at annalise(at)omsqatar(dot)com if you'd like to talk. I'd really appreciate your input for an article for Qatar Today magazine. I think it's an interesting issue to discuss.
Thank you very much!

i feel the qatar media and it is really awosome and i really like it.
Entrapment hahahahahahah
LOL...why don't you give her your mobile number? so you can start 'whatsapp' each other???
Annalise, y email ,,,y call by telephone...u wanna b transparent so do it rite here...just sounds a little fishy tht u wanna get private info of others and 4 wht???
I don't trust the media
lol...@ next survey...:)
Even if it is not officially censored the newspapers self censor themselves. After all a poet gets a life term for a few words, so they know the price of stepping out of line.
For the next survey, do Asians get paid less than westerners in the gulf? Does anyone have any idea if this is true or not?
It's heavily censored when the story reflects negatively on Qatar. The Villagio fire and many other fires are clear evidence of that. But also at government level. Living here you would come to the conclusion that this is the most perfect government in the world.
Yes, QatarLiving is evidence of censorship online, but I'm also taking a more comprehensive look at journalistic media, not just QatarLiving and other social forums. Thank you for the answers.
Media in Qatar is Unbiased, Responsible and Progressive!
There’s absolute ‘freedom of expression’ as far as Media is concerned.
If OP has used one 'n' less in its ID guess OP would have known about censorship first hand ...it would have become '[something Telco]ise Frank'...:)
Media is censored to a varying degree. Perhaps not officially..
There needs to be more openness especially regarding crime. Having said that, the media here is that "suited" to a monarchy.
Of course its censored. Al Jazeera was doing much better earlier but from the day they fired their previous CEO it lost the uniqueness.
Britexpat, thanks for the idea (and I appreciate the luck!), but I'm just looking for people who want to speak out about the issue, perhaps through email or over the phone, not through a survey. If you don't want to, I totally understand and respect that, but I was just looking in case someone was interested. Maybe it seems silly to some people to look into this issue, but if no one does how will things ever change?
Here's a wheeze of an idea.
Go to surveymonkey.
Create a survey.
Post link and we will answer.
Good Luck!
Investigate the media's role...tht is like a joke rite...hahahahahaha.....the media is to indoctrinate and to imprison ppl...evidence is there everyday....wht more do u want...????
duhhhhhhh
how naive are you?
Spybot, yes, it may seem obvious to a lot of people. But when investigating the media's role, I can't just assume things. I need to talk to people to get their impressions, personal experiences and evidence. I hope that makes sense.
Annalise it is obvious...wht the media dus here...wht do u think????
