Tips in restaurants?
We had a dinner at a small local restaurant a few times, and were served by a very friendly and attentive waiter. He is a young Indian boy, and we always chat to him, etc. We've tried a couple of times to leave him a tip for how professional, attentive and friendly he is, but he refuses to take tips from us, saying that we are friends, and he cannot take tips from friends.
We are going to SA world cup and thinking of getting him a suvenir from there since he sees us as friends.
Will he accept it? We really don't want to offend him in any way.
wow... first time in my life i hear about the waiter refusing the tips.. this sounds rather odd to me... anyway, bring him some gifts.. to give gifts to "friends" is normal, and i hope he won't refuse..
we are new to Doha, so not many ways we have to help. In any way, we would not want to assume that he needs help. Just want to say thank you in a 'friendly way' ;o)
it depends on him how is he thinking
You can find ways to help him which would benefit him, fulfill his needs .
