Women Dress

What is OK and not OK for women's clothing in Doha. I realize that the dress code is modest but are there some guidelines?

Shorts?

Dresses?

Swimwear?

Types of tops that are not ok?

Cover shoulders, knees and bosom. That's about it! Think loose and light.

Long skirts would a good choice in Summer for Westerners or Women not used with Abayas.

Jeans might not be very comfortable unless the weather is treating well or else if you are in the mall.

Swimsuits are meant to be worn either at the swimming pools or at the beaches, so no restrictions to it.

Hi Mightbemoving,

You can wear pretty much what you like in Qatar. But in respect to the culture of the country, it would be advisable to avoid skimpy dresses, plunging necklines, mini skirts, tank tops, very short shorts, etc. For swimwear one should consider the environment particularly the people frequenting the resort. Also, do cover up when moving away from the beach or poolside.

There is no dress police in Qatar, we just have to be sensitive to the culture.

GodFather.

Depends also on the environment. for example swimwear aonly acceptabel near the beach.

In public wear modest clothes covering arms and legs..
