An evening to enjoy and unwind at Al Rayyan Hotel’s Ramadan tent
We visited Al Rayyan Hotel's Ramadan tent for iftar and suhoor, and had the pleasure of a truly warm, hospitable experience, and very satisfied taste buds!
Located on the ground floor with direct connection to the Mall of Qatar, the tent's iftar offers a blend of Italian, Arabic and international dishes prepared from its lively open kitchen.
Iftar is a sumptuous buffet, with a range of hot mezze, soups, pasta, grilled meat and sushi on offer. We especially enjoyed our picks from the grill, as the meat was tender and lived up to its beautiful presentation flavor-wise (some of the best we had the good fortune to try this month).
Dessert is an especially impressive affair, with a varied selection of Arabic sweets, continental pastries and cakes, and of course, the compulsory Turkish ice cream. A chocolate fondue fountain completes the lavish picture. It was all we could do not to come in for third helpings.
Suhoor is a simpler affair in comparison, with a range of fresh, wholesome dishes served on a special tray. It actually makes a great change from the usual extravagance that can be associated with this time and meal.
The tray is an ensemble of classic Middle Eastern favourites, including grilled halloumi cheese, ful, hummus and labneh, with sides of fresh bread, dried figs and apricots, and a platter of freshly cut mixed fruit, that offers a refreshing option after heavier food.
The tent is spacious and beautifully lit, and has a certain simplicity about it while still remaining vibrant. This is just the sort of place to relax, especially for suhoor.
Although Al Rayyan Hotel isn't exactly close to the usual favourite spots in the Doha, you can always drop by the mall before or after your meal and take a walk around, or catch a movie at the Novo cinema.
Iftar is priced at QAR 175 per adult, beginning at Maghreb and lasting till 8:30pm.
Children below 8 years old dine for free, and those from 8 to 15 years olds may dine for only QAR 88.
Suhoor is priced at QAR 120 per adult, and is available from Saturday to Wednesday at the Ramadan tent from 7:00pm to 1:00am, and Thursday and Friday from 7:00pm to 2:00am.
