HMC encourages smokers to quit during Ramadan
Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Smoking Cessation Clinic has encouraged smokers to use month of Ramadan as an opportunity to take the initial steps towards quitting the habit of smoking and living a healthier lifestyle.
Head of HMC’s Smoking Cessation Clinic, Dr Ahmad al-Mulla said in addition to refraining from food and drink during the day one also has to abstain from smoking.
Ramadan activities such as family visits and prayers can keep an individual occupied and assist him or her in quitting smoking.
Dr Ahmad aslo mentioned the various benefits of quitting smoking specially for diabetic patients as it results in improved blood sugar levels ,insuline reception and decreased cholestrol levels.
For those smokers who find it very hard to quit , Dr Ahmad advised professional help through HMC’s Smoking Cessation Clinic.
The clinic aims to provide specialist support, advice and treatment to smokers so they can quit smoking permanently. This is done by advising new ways to replace their daily nicotine intake and to overcome the withdrawal symptoms.
It is essential to increase the consumption of water after iftar, excercising daily and keeping a distance from other smokers to lead a tobacoo free Ramadan. [Gulf Times]

And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction [by refraining]. And do good; indeed, Allah loves the doers of good.
According to these verses it's prohibited and anything that damages your health
