Where to celebrate Garangao 2016 in Qatar
Garangao is a children's festival celebrated on the 14th day of Ramadan. It marks the one half of Ramadan passing successfully and children are encouraged to fast in the last half.
After the Iftar at sunset, children wear traditional or festive clothes, have a bag for collecting goodies around their necks, and sing Garangao songs in groups around the neighborhood. They knock on doors and collect sweets, nuts and candies from neighbors.
This year Garangao falls on the 19th of June. Malls, parks, schools, community and cultural centers celebrate Garangao with gusto and some events will start from earlier dates. A list of all places celebrating the festival and events related to it is below.
