Accountant at Qatar Airways ?

Hi all,

I joined this forum to find out if it is a good idea to work in Qatar and for Qatar Airways in the finance department and to get informed about life in Qatar for people in my situation.

I saw a job posted recently, "Finance officer (outstations)" in QR website and I was wondering what is the range of salary for such job and what would the benefits would I be given.

I am Jordanian with 7 years of experiences(experienced non manager)in a different Arabian (non GCC) Airline.

From what I have read, Accountants don't get paid much in general (Not something new) and since I am not going to be a manager that's another bad point and above all that I am not certified (not mandatory here).

I am pessimistic about the prospects of getting a good offer and whither if it is a good idea to get a better pay then worry about spending it on living expenses which they are almost 10% of my salary here (not bad at all) and travel expenses or such expense that you don't have to pay when working at your home country, in addition of course to that fact that you are leaving your loved ones for this.

But at my current pay I don't feel I am getting enough to start a life of my own so I am just wondering do they pay good to attract foreigners, is it going to be very competitive because of this multinational environment ? Is it easy to advance ?

Sorry for the long post,
Any comments or PMs :) would be really appreciated.

Perhaps, your so-called friend doesn't meet the qualification of FINANCE team...It's either she/he is not capable of doing her/his work and/or he/she is definitely not qualified to do the job even if he/she has a credential. Maybe, she/he is not smart enough to do the job in FINANCE. I know a temporary girl from QR who has acquired a good position in Technical because of her experiences that she has obtained while working in FINANCE.

challenges should be related to the concern dept or field.. wht if challenges r given beyond wht u r selected for ?? if ur discriminated is tht a challenge ?? if u r treated as a animal is the a challenge ?? and technical dept is related to information technology especially in DIA scuks

TLS, i beg to differ with you... Firstly, you said regarding technical dept, there is no such thing as you stated in technical dept... Specially for the Aircraft Engineers and rest of the Staff in Engineering.. If your friend is not happy with the work why does she not leave the company????

Secondly, you stated when you make some plans for vacations, QA will try to stop you or defer your leave.. For your information i know people who have taken leave when they were under probation for 6 months....

Well challenges are all over and in every field, if one particular person is not having a good time at work that does not mean that the whole organization is not good to work in.....

Dear immi, bs_returns, TheLucyShow:

Thank you for the comments.

Yes, I agree with you, no one can work in a bad working environment, actually finding a company with a smart management that takes care of its employees is my target, and if this is the case in Qatar Airways I guess salaries, training, and growth room will be bad too.

I hoped that I could get an idea about the pay but this aspect has the same weight.

Best of luck to all of you

Regards

trust me.work culture is more than crap over there. If u are butterspoon to the high management than no work on your table otherwise they will suck you blood with work. The initial 6 month's probation period is more than blood sucking environment over there.my friend is working there in less than half salary as a temporary person and the moment they came to know about her low background they started sucking her blood out.She dont have time to eat her lunch even sometimes. They keep her busy like a donkey.their 60 % staff leaves the job within 3-4 months.Try somewhere else.It is one of the worst company. They dont have a office canteen or freedom to buy something from the inhouse cafetaria. All good things are for higher management or cabin crew.rest all staff are treated like 5th grade citizens.they will lure you with free tickets and all but the moment you plan some holiday they will make all possible efforts to make it canceled.I am watching and hearing so many stories from technical persons too.One of my colleague joined there as a IT engineer and than left the company within 2 weeks because his manager started embarrassing him to do overtime and extra works too.My own Boss worked there for complete two years but he is very happy now in our company. He calls it a nightmare..Dont go for this hyped company..try somewhere else.
