An old colleague of mine is working for the same company, and in the same role I will be taking up later this year. He was pretty certain end of service gratuity didn't apply to us.

Perhaps my annual bonus is considered to cover this aspect?

I will be getting the full contract through in a few days - that might shed some light on this issue.

Everyone who is employed in Qatar is entitled to an end of service gratuity as long as they have completed at least one full year of service with that company. You should also have a contract. This is one of the Qatar Labour Laws and is non-negotiable - it should be at least equivalent to 3 weeks' salary for every full year of service completed, i.e. so if you have worked for 3 full years, you should receive 3 times 3 weeks salary - based on your salary at the time you leave. Hope this helps!
