Enquiry: what is the normal salary for substitute teachers?

Hi dear all,

I don't know how it is for other foreign nationals, but not being a 'native' English speaker -by nationality, regardless of where you have lived, hinders my chances of finding a job with a good salary. I don't want to be a class teacher anymore (too much stress!), but to be assistant teacher is poorly paid... I have also been offered substitute teaching and that of course has to be even less remunerated... Does anybody have an idea how much a substitute teacher earns?

Thanks!

If you are interested in working in Qatar, you will find lots and lots of opportunities. It is often a matter of luck, once I even found a temp job in an Embassy in a local newspaper! Summer is a good time to look because half of the population is away and many schools are recruiting for the next academic year. I have changed jobs twice since I left LifeTime... you would have understood why if you read the whole description till the end. The nice thing about being sponsored by my husband is that I am free to chose when to leave a job I am not happy with.

After all, I am glad to have 'advertised' nicely the Nursery because it was a great place and the manager (she) was one of the nicest I have had so far. I just didn't agree with their policy for their sponsored staff. Now I've learnt better not to care about things beyond my understanding and control. I promised myself I will TRY to stay in my current job, hence I won't comment about it even when some things are wrong but they won't change, at least not in the little time we will be here ;-)

Regards

Dear Ingensu,

Last time from your posting, obviously you were working for Lifetime Nursery in West Bay. You had advertised well for the nursery. Have you changed jobs then now??

I think it's good enough for me to earn QR500 per day as an asst. teacher..If I will be hire as an assistant teacher and will be paid like that, well I will accept it..

It seems the same rate, either QR500 per day or QR 100 per hour. Nevertheless, I have left that out of my plans since I got a full time position in a great school! Thanks anyway for your answer pwb78!

I believe I heard 500 QR a day for the American School.
