Hi everyone,
i have been reading that there are paying differences if you are european or asian or other.
I will be in qatar in a couple of weeks for an interview and i would like to know what shall i ask for salary.
My employer would be qatar airways and i am a design engineer with more than 7 years experience. Today i work in Germany with a salary netto of 3000 euro/month, 13,5 months per year. Of course my employer pays also for my reteirment contribution.
If you spend less than what they give you for an appartment, can you keep the difference?
More, how are working condition in qatar? 40 hours per week? Sunday to Thursday? What about bank holidays?
Thanks everyone,
Freeg.

QR50000 is coming out at around USD165,000 a year.

A Qatar outfit want me to do a 2+ year job for them but they are not giving me much financial incentive.

I run a consulting shop that does clever tricks for organizations that get into touble with their ICT. I make about USD165K pa now, my tax is minimized to zip, I drink more wine than petrol and I collect Piglet books. What's in Qatar for me?

I've told them I'll come for a base of QR35000 plus the usual expat allowances for accomomodation, medical, etc (I guess that addds up to about anther QR20000).

The 2007 Qatar National Bank publication "Doing Business in Qatar" puts the monthly expenses of an expatriate executive (Married couple with two children) living in Qatar at QR29000 (Page 16).

I've been reading the postings on this site and I get the feeling that Qataris pay peanuts.

Just how realistic is this QR50000 figure of yours?

man, qatar is one hell of a booooooring place to be........if you are single, the money is good here, i'd say they will pay you around 25000 Qrs per month, that around 4500 euro/month, they should provide you with accomodation and utilities, so you will not have to think about rent, ar about keeping the deffrance, they pay for it, and they should give you a company car too....... dont settle for anything less thant that, its not worth it here...... not many places to socialize and meet new ppl here......

I aspected salaries to be over the european average and tax-free.

Might be that i was wrong, but if it is that the case i really wonder...

However, i will come for the interview and check it out myself. No Dutch Houda, but Deutsch j"a"...and a bit of spanish :)

thank you.

Freeg, do you speak Dutch?

Anyways. I understand what they mean, I have been in Qatar also, the salary is not good. Just if you have a European Company. I'm from the Netherlands and I worked as a teacher, the salary is 50% of the Dutch one.

I wish you luck in Dutch we say: nooit geschoten is altijd mis. If you never try, you are sure, you always lost
