expat salary question

Hi folks.  I am hoping someone can help me.  I have a mate who has received interest from a project development company here.  They're expecting her to initiate salary negotiations--i.e. how much would you expect?

It's not my field, so I'm not sure what to tell her.  I told her to ask for in terms of benefits:  housing, school fees in full, travel allowance at one business fare home per family member, car allowance, etc.  But I have no idea about salary.  She has about five years experience in corporate finance and she would be brought in at the level of director handling oversight of a large development/construction project.

Any suggestions on a starting figure?

Also can any of the ladies on QL comment generally on what it is like to work in corporate world as a woman?  She'd have men working for her.

Cheers everyone.

I can't comment on the salary figure, but the benefits you list look about right.  I assume health care is included, and she should ask for cash equivalents of the airfares and for them to help her sort out the housing.Personally, my guess is that it would be quite shock for her to go from the US to Doha in terms of having make employees working for her.  She should figure that into the salary amount.
