HELP ON MOVING TO QATAR WITH KAHRAMAA

Hi everybody,

I currently live and work in Dubai and have about 11 years audit experience. Soon I'll be receiving an offer from Kahramaa for a Senior Audit position and have several questions in mind for which I would like to receive your feedback.

First of all, do you know what is the salary range in Kahramaa for a senior Audit position? What kind of benefits do they usually offer?

Second, I would like to know how good Kahramaa is as employer. Is it a serious company? how does Kahramaa treat its employees?

Third, I heard that some companies take even the passport of their employees. Is it this normal? Does Kahramaa do that?

Fourth, do you think that working for Kahramaa is good for CV, considering that I would like to move back to Canada after some years?

Fifth, I have a family (wife + 3 children) and am really afraid of making a mistake in moving to Doha because I do not know how life is over there. Is Doha family friendly? How good schools are (especially private english ones)and the hospitals? Are there activities for Kids in Doha?

I know that I am asking you many questions, but really, I am feeling alone in the world to take this hard decision of moving or not to Qatar. It would be then GREAT if you can help me with your comments.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO ALL OF YOU!

What's important is getting housing and schooling provided, not included. And do you know that schools can have waiting lists of a thousand kids?

kahramaa is a good company.my friend is working there.he use to say always good about his company.social life is less compare to dubai..i was in dubai for 5 years when i moved to doha i feel complete loneliness.bcoz doha is not upto my imagination.qatari's are good, but you should know arabic to talk to them.Forget about the passport, you can keep it in your hand but no use without an exit permit you cannot exit qatar.compare to dubai qatar laws are not favour of employee but always stands with employer.

All is ok here and Kahramaa is a govt. owned organization with 90% ARABIC speaking people. Salary is all you can negotiate and it is up to you.

Life of Qatar, well, its alright but if you are comming from UAE, you may find it boring. Not much to do here, not much at all.

Also, keep in mind that overall in Qatar, NOC issue is on high but since Kahramaa is govt. owned, i really cant comment if they will let you have it.

About yout passport, most of the govt. agencies and govt. owned organizations dont keep passports of the employees but having your passport with you is no good since you need an exit and that is provided by your employer.

In order to consider a move you would have to be offered at least 25% more salary plus housing, schooling, tickets, medical, transportation, etc.
