QU - Faculty position - Salary and allowance
Hello everyone,
Could you please tell me about the salary for an assistant professor (with PhD from Canada) and a Canadian nationality at QU? Preferably with breakup - basic/allowance/etc?
What is the type of housing provided? I am married with one child. Do i have a choice to request for villa with facilities like gym or playground (for child 5yr old)? Or such facilities are available only for senior executives like Dean? How many parking lots do these villas have? It would also be nice to know if QU owns villas in compounds or they rent out villas for faculty from private compounds? Where are their villas located? Which areas of Doha?
What is the usual child education allowance provided?
The healthcare offered is it government or private? Which one is better? Do we have to pay a monthly premium or paid by QU?
Is the salary based on nationality? Some say in other forums that QU does NOT pay based on nationality? Everyone is paid the same. How to negotiate an offer?
I am being considered for a faculty position and have completed 3 interviews.
I would very much appreciate your reply.
Thanks much!
QUFac
Thanks yacine.h for putting me on the right track.
Some of your questions are a bit off the mark. Why are you asking about villas in a compound with a gym and a playground? Who told you in the first place that they will offer you a villa? It might be a two-bedroom apartment! I think you are putting very high expectations and I am afraid when you come and see the reality you will be a bit disappointed. Yes there are villa compounds but not all of them have the facilities you want, and the university might not have any available villas like that. These are not things you can negotiate. If anything, try to get a good salary and forget about superfluous things. If you are into physical education, you can always have a membership in a gym, and for your kid, there are plenty of parks that your wife or yourself can take him to. You should probably worry more about his schooling as that is a serious issue here (poor education, overcrowding, waiting lists, etc.)
Thanks everyone for your responses. Will certainly let the forum of what happens post negotiation.
There won't be much room for negotiation. QU has standard packages depending on your position grade.
Your questions are very QU specific and cannot be answered by anyone than QU HR. When you get to the stage of salary and benefits, you negotiate according to your suitable needs and whatever you find convenient for your pocket. The country standard living has become very high. Do not be shy to ask high.
Good Luck!
Ask QU HR. They have a standard package they offer professors.
