Are big companies in the oil and gas sector giving OT pay for non-Muslim if you work more than 5 hours during Ramadan? Or they also implement the shorten working time for non-Muslim?
yes, 6 hours, for all... but even muslim do need to work for more than 6 hrs, and still don't get over time, as its really depends on your management, specially in non-govt organisations.
My husband, a non-Muslim Expat, works the same hours as usual, same days as usual and is working Eid Holidays too - no OT, nothing extra. That's life! If you wanted it any different you should have negotiated it before signing the contract.
Thanks for the reply. Actually, I work in a Q-company but we do not received any OT or also work on a shorten time during Ramadan period like for Muslims. I just want to know how many Q-companies like QP, RASGAS, QATARGAS, ETC.. are giving this benefit because we want also to receive the same benefit since some companies are really implementing the same rule for both Muslim and non-Muslim.
I'm not from Oil and Gas sector, but from one of the big Corporations (Kahramaa). We have many non muslim colleagues who enjoy the same benefits what we muslims do. Our regular working hours during Ramadan is 5hrs but in our section we work 8hrs in the shift duty. Everyone get 3hrs overtime daily without considering their religion.
Seniors employee are not paid OT irrespective of Ramadan or No-Ramadan. During ramadan non-muslims are free to work 6 hours or more if they feel so. Yes people in maintenance/operation/security are paid OT if they required to work more than prescribed work irrespective of muslims or non-muslims.
Once you are in Qatar, you are governed by law of the land and it is applicable to all the religion. Most of the companies reduce working hours to 6 and there is no lunch break.
To support our Muslim colleagues, we are not supposed to eat or drink in their presence as it causes temptation to them hence indirectly every one observes fast.
It is quite oblivious that if someone works for more than 6 hours during Ramadan, he is entitle for the OT.

There is no religious bar here for working hours in Ramadan which is six by labour law.
And yes, it's a Q-Company!

but you should have the same office program, as per the law, so I think no more payments (only if contract says something else)
