Salary and Allowance offer enough?

Hi everyone and specially to all Kabayan in Qatar.

I am currently working in Bahrain and have a Job offer as IT Traning Administrator in a Petrochem company in Qatar.

The package is as follows:

Basic = 6400.00
Transportation = 600.00
Location allowance = 1100.00

Suitable acccomodation (bachelor camp) is free

Total is 8100.00

After probation they offer Furniture grant, leave. Medical and LifeInsurance and airfare for whole family and education allowance.

if they cannot find accomodation for me as bachelor they offer 3500.000 allowance or 5500 for family.

I can only apply family VISA after probation period or 6 months.

My wife is pregnant now and have 1 child

My questions are:

I read an article from Gulf Times that minimum salary must be QR10,0000 for you to bring or apply for family visa.

Is the basic salary of 6100.00 can support my family for food etc. and still able to save?

thanks for all your help..

tsong thanks, yung nga sir, actually the salary I receive right now here in Bahrain is higher than in the offer but without benefits, but still I am still thinking they would reconsider despite sinabi nung HR na template already the salary package for my position and approved and fixed by Board of Directors.

Bale tommorrow, official signing ng contract na, will be in Doha in the evening and will meet the managers on Tuesday. Hopefully there still chance of reconsideration and thkinking

Big decision for me this one specially kasama ko na family ko here in Bahrain, there will be lot of things to sacrifice and give up

dude, your salary is very low, think many times before you decide to receive that offer.

In addition to this, the company is a government owned Petrochem company< would this be a plus sign for having family approvoed despite requirements not met?

thanks marycatherine for the advice. I will certainly ask the HR to provide a written statement or waiver that they will process my family visa after 6 months probationary period.

I wont take the risk of sacrificing my quality life with family here in Bahrain without assurance of being with my family in Qatar.

However, the HR dept is not the MOI and if MOI does not approve your family status application, nothing their HR dept can do will change that.

I would certainly request from the HR dept that they provide a written statement that the family visa will be available - or something to that effect. I very much doubt they will do so.

You say your family being with you is very important. I agree with Mandi, this is a big risk to rely on someone's "word" rather than being able to meet the published requirements.

Also, the min salary requirement was increased in the past year. Who is to say the government won't increase it again in the 6 month period you are waiting?

You would be taking a very big risk that your family status would be approved with that salary.

Hi everyone, also would like to add if the company deserves me having the following qualifications below:

6 years experience in Middle East

4 years experience in home Country

Computer Science graduate

Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator

Microsoft Certified Professional

Microsoft Office Specialist

Excellent written and Oral English skills

A friend told me the offer is very low despite the company was well known to be offerning good salary.

Let me know otherwise might be keeping myself to where I am now and keep looking for other offers.

HI kabayan, thanks, the HR also mentioned that I should never been worried on processing my family visa after my confirmation since THEY are the one who will deal with this matter. All I have to do is to submit passport copies and other docs (ie marriage contract, birth certificate) to their Immigration Section and they will do the rest.

Also they told me that their Field Operators who only receives QR3000 also had their family already with them.

Kabayan Ruel, ur offer surpasses 10k in total so i think you would be eligible in getting Family visa. With regards to your other question about the expenses of your family in a month if its enough, Yes and you can save a couple bucks at the same time. Cheers!

You cannot bring your family to Qatar with less than a basic salary of 10,000. You do not qualify for family status. I think that's your decider.

Hi guys, thanks for your input.

I actually went to Qatar last Sunday for medical/tests and face to face interview/chat with HT and one of senior guys on the department that I will be assigned to.

Messaieed is 45 minutes away from main city Doha but looks very far for me.The place feels very quite and fully industrial with wide roads and open areas, now comparing to Bahrain, I live on a downtown 10 minutes from the office, more things to see and people.

HR will return to me by Sunday or Monday next week for final feedback on results and probably the forma job offer.

I tried to renegotiate the salary but since company is fully structured with several management stages of approval, they did mentioned that salary is a fixed one due to grading system regardless of your qualifications or experience to the extent its on same position.

As for Family visa issue, they have promised that within 6 months time I can easily apply visa by just simply submitting my documents to their Immigration Section department.

Two sacrifices I have to made if I choose Qatar, first I have to send my wife and daughter back to my home country and struggle with home sickness being away with them.

and Second one I have to deal with a lower salary with benefits I can only use for my own sake for 6 months and can be utilised when family comes.

My current work is bit relax, with nice office, friendly co-workers only two matters career growth and benefits which never been happening.

hope you could enlighten more

thanks

his 8100 salary did not include the bachelors accommodation allowance which he stated will be 3500 if he decides to live out of the company accommodation. so if he avails this option his total monthly salary including the accommodation allowance will be 11600QAR which will make the bracket cutoff. in presenting this to the immigration it will be a communicative computation on all your earnings including all allowances and they are not basing this with your basis salary only. as long you have a six months bank statement and a salary certificate with this numbers it is fine. but check also the type of position in your visa because this is also one of the requirement.

Thanks for all your help. Got confused, either the salary is acceptable for family visa or not.

I will however try to negotiate and close the deal to 10K to ensure I will be on the right track. If company already locked this proposal and no further negotiations can be made, I might decline this offer and stay in Bahrain.

His salary and accomodation allowance are under the 10000 published minimum for a family visa - how does the visa get approved?

your salary and accommodation allowance are enough to have your family visa approved. they are not talking about the basic salary interns of the bracket but the whole salary bracket that you are taking it means what are you getting at the end of the month. if you are getting 8100 plus 3500 you make sure that this is listed in your salary letter when you apply for the visa. it is also advisable that all this will be transferred all through the bank and will reflect in your bank statements that you will be providing with the application.. QAPCO is a good company and they take care of their employee just make sure that when you ask for a salary letter in the future all this will reflect and the total surely will be more than 10000.....good luck

it all depends on your lifestyle.. true. but then again i think that this isn't enuogh for someone who is starting a family. i think you should negotiate. gd luck

Tsong, QAR 8,100 for an IT guy is bit low. Ask for more!

Technically you can't have a "Family status" but you can still bring your family here should your company helps. Though this is a big risk since itl not be in black & white but there are cases where their salaries are below the minimum required but still were able to bring their families.

Overall, the package they offer is not that bad. There are worst.

Just ensure that your soon-to-be-employer do help you in bringin your family here.

Goodluck!

plipanselmo, are you kabayan? If yes, would you able to help based on our spending habits, this salary is suitable? My wife is preggy and getting a new baby soon...

One big factor that makes me move to Qatar is Career growth which I did not get here in Bahrain after working for more than 5 years! So career development (plus additional incentives) offered by new employer in Qatar really kicks a big plus!

However, the issues on minimum salary requirement for Family visa really makes my decision biased towards Bahrain...

In Bahrain, I live with my family with suitable income + plus savings though without accomodation, medical insurance, airfare, education for them.

Bahrain = big salary but no accomodation or any benefits and no career growth

Qatar = less salary but lot of benefits plus career growth

only have 24 hours before I reach Doha Airport and final decision must be made

My brother in law has 8k salary and he can sponsor his family (his wife and his son)

And they survive, but now... they're situation is more better, coz my sister got 11K salary.

Now my brother in law salary turns up to 9K, therefore their total monthly income is 20K

I think 8100 offer is better.

1 decent room can cost min. - 2k to 3k

Food, daily necessities - 800 QR

Transportation - 1100 QR is enough, if you can get near room from your company.

hi ilovemyindia

do you mean take the chance for the face to face with HR and try to negotiate either of the following:

(a) Increase my basic salary to meet government's requirements on having family visa OR

(b) apply family visa for my family and we'll all go together to Qatar at the same time?

OR take a chance on signing the contract. I recalled HR mentioned that I will myself apply family visa afterwhich they will reimburse all fees I have paid to Immigration.

thank you

the basic salary offered is quite low compared to my curent pay here in Bahrain. Major factor that affecting my decision are the benefits for my dependents which weighs up Qatar but if I cannot able to apply Family Visa because of the basic salary I may turn down this offer.

Flats in Bahrain are way cheaper compared to Qatar and food depends on your consumption habits.

I cannot really decide until I have a word on the HR.

Would anyone suggest if I will still fly to Doha for face to face with HR and official job offer?

for me it's a good offer. but it still depends on your lifestyle... if it is much better offer compared to your current pay in bahrain, then go for it. anyway it will increase based on your performance...

your total takeaway package should be 10k. if it is 8k + accomodation then also you have a chance of getting family visa.
