i have a friend who works as a clerk in a government public health institution here. According to her the promise of salary increase last year didn't materialized. she and her colleagues speculated that the budget for the salary increase for 2008 was pocketed. imagine she is working there for more than 15 years now and her salary is still 2500QR.

she added, only doctors, nurses, and a fortunate few got increases. for the doctors and nurses 40% and 15% for the others. she was demoralized for the new hirees got two to three times more than her present salary.

In my humble opinion, "there won't be any salary increase for government employees for this year especially now that the world is in recession."

oh my! from which desert have u been hiding??? havent u heard about the global financial crisis, and the wide spread recession??? and yet ur talkin abt salary raise... Ive got friends who are woking in a bank.. after they terminated a total of abt 300 employees, they were just given 100 qrs increase.... and their appraisals were forced rank to lower levels so that they'd be paid less bonus!!!! increase is good.. but this talk has been goin on every year end... lets all just hope to be kept in our jobs...

Sure! for about 130-150%... ask your employeer, he will confirm..don't forget to make sure you got a NOC letter before asking this question though...
