Salary for shopgirl

Our maid that will be leaving us at the end of next month is insisting that she can get a job at Zara or a similar store for 6000qr a month plus a 1000qr housing allowance. This is just for a salesperson job- no prior experience. She is Ethiopian with a high school degree (not sure if that makes a difference)

She thinks she will have no issues with switching visas and finding a job within 45 days.

How realistic is this?

She knows that if she doesn't find this job or switch the visa by 45 days we will have to send her home.

We don't believe her, that's the point, I just wanted to confirm this. She wants to leave, we want her to leave- so there is no issue of her "faking".

We know she has a family to support so we don't want to send her home if we don't have to. she is great with our kids and we trust her, but there are just too many personal issues. No reason to send her home on the next flight if we don't have to.

I guess my concern is a motherly instinct. I am afraid she is getting really bad advice and will waste these days looking for a shopgirl job. She of course will not find it and then be sent home while all this time she should be just looking for another maid's job with another family. But, she is young and has to learn hard lessons....

Minoush dear, I have been following your thread on this issue for sometime, and your maid seems to have some or the other solution ready at all times.

Its nice to give her the benefit of doubt, everyone deserves it, but unless she can produce an offer letter with valid contacts of the firm planning on hiring her, you cannot believe her.

Thanks. We have told her that she has 45 days to find a sponsor (any sponsor, business or maid) or she will be sent home. We told her that if she is not happy then she can leave. We don't want her around. We did want to give her a chance to find something else instead of just sending her home instantly. That is why we told her 45 days.

I was just curious how she got that info... Supposedly her "friend" makes that much.

My husband told her to go, we don't want to hold you back from making 6000qr!

Mango, no way. They don't have Ethiopian employees here. Zara, yes, they do. Maybe she made contact with one of the current Ethiopian girls there?

I know they are renovating the Landmark branch, so they might be hiring too.

See if she comes with an offer letter.

No idea about transfering visas.

Minoush, your maid seems to be taking you for a ride with her theories, just so she cant be sent back home.if zara is really willing to pay a maid 6000 for the post of sales girl, then its really good.

how has she got in touch with Zara or similar store and who would offer a maid the job of a salesgirl? something doesnt seem right.

She must have a valid offer letter from the company for you to transfer sponsorship.

I understand you have good intentions, but I would advice you to be cautious and check her theory out yourself.

Wise thing is that, let her bring offer letter from the new employer, if she feels happy with that i suggest you must give her a releaze so that she find for herself a better oppertunity for her life

No choice but to let her go. Cannot hold back anyone if they get a better offer - she surely won't be motivated.

Now if there are problems with transfering her visa - then thats another issue. Perhaps she'll come back to you then.

Let her go. If there are any lessons to learn, then she will learn them.

If she is on maid visa I dont think she can transer her visa to Zara or Mango. Zara and Mango are giving good salary but not for a girl who have no sales experience.
