Hello mga Kabayan,
Good Day!
I'm working as AUTOCAD OPERATOR in Saudi KSA for almost 4 years and yung salary ko nung 1st ,2 yrs ko dito is 2700 SR. ngayon 3700 SR. Dito kasi sa amin kailangan mong mag OT ng sobra pala lumaki ang sahod mo at the same time bawal kaming mag absent.
Regards,
Josh ng KSA
WHAT SALARY WILL I EXPECT FOR AN ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT IN QATAR. I HAVE HAD 3 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN ACCOUNTING FIELD IN THE PHILIPPINES...
CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE RIGHTFUL SALARY RATE FOR AN ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT. HOUSING ALLOWANCE AND TRANSPO ALLOWANCE.
I am invited to work in QATAR as an Instrument Engineer. I will be receiving 6500QR + free accomodation and transport + Free Food at site + annual service pay + 30 Days Pay leave annually. I am 28yr w/ one daughter. I just like to ask for your opinion regarding this. Your comment will be greatly appreciated... Thanks and More Power....
ask the company if they issue "NOC" or a "no objection letter" to leaving employees? it's what allows employees to transfer sponsorship to other companies should they resign from their current employment..if so, then maybe you can accept the offer for now and then shift to another company who can give you a better package... unfortunately, not too many companies here in Qatar give out NOCs...good luck!!
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away."
i will tell pitsay to forget my offer for sharing employment info (ie copying and pasting the contract for everyone to see) on the internet... lol :)

but by the moments that take our breath away."
I agree with dweller that 15k is really big for admin. assitant only..
If you care for the right advice, forget this offer. You will be sick with depression within 2 months.
I think you may find that the "salary" is wrong.
It was a nice offer. But sadly I cannot afford their placement & processing fees. I wish the employer would shoulder it like my friend's employer. But they obviously didn't. So I'm back to my old job.
Qp really gives high salary... imagine starting salary of admin assistant is 15k...
I am getting almost the same from Mannai Holidays. I will be a Leisure Travel Consultant (Grade 5).

"GUYS!
This thread is ALMOST 2 YEARS OLD...heller :-/"
Had a really good laugh!! For all we know this guy who started this thread has been here, and gone for his leave and dunno if he came back because he wasn't able to negotiate for a raise. But seriously, to the people who are asking for advice it would take a bit of research and more thinking if you really want to work with the companies that made an offer to hire you, or you applied with. Well, it's almost a given that Filipinos are hard workers, creative, patient to a flaw, jolly, friendly, easy to deal with, and fast learners. So, how much are you willing to take in exchange for what you have and what you're gonna leave behind: loved ones, home, beautiful country. Can you quantify that? Yes you will survive with USD700++ or USD1,200++ or a bit more. But there are details that you have to factor, i.e., the terrible homesickness- everyone gets hit with it no matter how long you've stayed here. This is deeply felt during Christmas, b-days of your loved ones, etc etc... How about that unfair treatment in the workplace? You're doing the hard work but another guy gets the credit for it, and sometimes gets promoted. These are but a few. And by the way, don't make it a guide how much you're gonna get in Peso equivalent. Either you're earning an obscene salary or you're barely leading a decent life here. This place is EXPENSIVE! Housing rates alone are more than some small but decent houses in NY or Paris. lzxcoco describes it here very well "share a room in a shitplace"- that is, if you'll be given a minimal housing allowance. Not only that, even if you share it with a countryman you will still have to put up with each one's idiosyncracies. Not unless you have the patience and mind set of a Zen disciple. You accountant people try to seek out better paying companies. There's GHD, or the govt-owned companies, or the oil companies, or simply one who can give more. Check out POEA websites, or direct web sites of good companies here. That's why I said do a research. You're no diff from the fair-skinned who gets so much but it's you who really does the dirty job. Look, when you're hired by a company that eventually you despise, it's gonna be tough. What experience are we talking about except that, it's simply bad bad bad. Yes bro money ain't everythin, but it's the thing that sometimes buys happiness. It pays the school fees of your children or relatives back home, buy them a nice gift, put up a biz, perhaps just simply living your dream. But in the end it's gonna be your deal. Don't you think you deserve more or better? Good luck and welcome to Doha!
Sorry guys,
I was just a bit emotional seeing this kind of unfair game and ugly offer and could not resist myself to reply without seeing the date of the post!!!!
He ehehehehehhhe!!!!!
I would suggest you not to take it. It is an awful offer and someone who came up with the package must be having out of tune mind.
How could you survive life in this country with weekly or could be daily inflation rate shooting up high to the moon?
To be frank, a room rent in Wakra not Doha has already in the average of QR1300-QR1500 and what more in Doha!
What more with a family to support back home. What you will get at end of the day is life depression and corrupted mind!
anyway, good luck in your quest young man!
yeah... hellooo... 2 years na itong thread....!!!!!???
GUYS!
This thread is ALMOST 2 YEARS OLD...heller :-/
we forgot the thread starter.. edwinpogi, for me, i advice you to take the offer, you cant get that salary in the phils.. since it will be your first time, take it.. its not a bad start.. after your contract.. you can demand for a higher salary..
i will try and answer some of your questions.
3. no. wait to complete one year.
4. i suppose annual salary evaluation is common to all companies.
5&6. if your work will be in Ras Laffan, your housing will be in al-khor. whether your coming in as a bachelor or family status. it's a nice place, about 25 minutes from work. nothing to worry about.
7. possibly. but if you are simply an operator on an existing switch building or something along that line, then there could be a 4 hour overtime for you. It all depends on where you will be assigned. Will be a part of maintenance or not.
8. indefinite contract means a long contract. then that means your like part of a maintenance group. your in for a long haul.
please, anybody, i need your comments/advise about my queries.re: salary range.
tnx, so much.

Hey, Im working in al fardan and they offer good packae, but it all depends on your bargaining abilities....email me if you have some queries... thanks and goodluck..
rannie
Hi Lelila,
Did you accept Alfardan's offer? Please share your experience in applying for the job. What's the name of the agency? Thanks in advance and God bless.
Hi everyone. For those kababayans who are already working in Qatar, please share your experiences how you've successfully landed a job. I had an interview last Friday with the CFO and executive of Alfardan thru an agency for a senior accountant position. It was just a short interview and they asked me few questions only including my current and expected salaries. I told them my expected salary, US 2K. I was wondering why they did not react on the figures. I just hope and pray I'll be lucky enough to get the job.
How can I assess if the employer/interviewer is interested in hiring me? We were advised by the agency that the result will be released after a week. DO I have to make a follow-up call to inquire about the status of my application? I'll appreciate it if you can give me insights and advice. Thanks in advance and Mabuhay ang Filipinos!
just read this thread. seems like al fardan offers low salary. i was offered to apply with them and i was hoping that it would at least be twice my salary here in the philippines. the post offered to me will be as a senior accountant. im currently earning Php40k+ net per month here in the phils. anyone here working with al fardan group?
Hi,
I am from India, I am a qualified cost accountant and attempted CIMA strategic level, I got one offer as a project accountant for 3500QR+SHARED HOUSING+OTHER ALLOWANCES, I am a pure vegeterian how much it will cost me to have vegeterian food, the person who has interviewed me informed that it will not cost more than 600QR so I can save other 2900QR is it right,
some
hi everyone! i also need your comments on the offer i recently received. i'm a filipino, based in the philippines, holding a managerial position in a property management company. the job i was offered is for a project manager position for a facilities management company in doha. basic is QA9000, housing and utilities provided by the company, company car & gas also provided. there is the yearly paid 30-day vacation leave including airfare. the job entails overseeing several properties of a client. have been in the property industry for more than 10 years now and have been quite lucky to work for very good companies.
i would like to know if the offer is good enough that will allow me some savings. thanks!
50% yes. the accountant that I'll be leaving with tried haggling but the company did not agree. they need to see "performance" first (as they always do).
I know someone who is esalvo = ernie salvo from antipolo. same person?
to everybody,
im a filipino and i,ll be joining QP this July.
is there any body there who can explain the details of supplementary housing allowance?
thanks
Morning QLérs!
Brother, if its 50% more of your getting there, then why not (for experience)? But please negotiate more...
Take care...
Cheers!
"Like I always said IMHO"
Thanks both for the reply.
The offer is USD700 + accomodation + transpo to and from the office.
Most probably 3 kami dun sa room, or house whatever, kung anuman yun.
Yest it's my first time to leave.
As for your designer friend, may I ask how much salary niya? baka matagal na siya dun? how much yung start niya? kahit private message mo na lang siguro
rem888
i have a roomate who is a graphic designer also, but his salary is much higher than the offer with you. Try to do more bargaining baka makahirit ka pa.
Is 2500QR your basic salary?, is this you first working abroad?
As per the food, we are sharing food expenses and roughly we spend 100-200QR per month.
the salary is ok...but the housing is not....2,000 QR is not enough to have a gud house....it is only a small room...so make ur own decisions.....gudluck
naku salamat at may nagreply. so kung 200/week then that's 800/month. however there will be 3 of us in the house (at least). if we share in the food expenses, will it still be that amount per person? food lang ito. wala pa yung ibang consumables like toothpaste, shampoo, etc.
Your employer was giving you a wrong figure. The correct figures for weekly food allowance was ranging from QR 150 to 200 per week. Lowest cost of fish here is QR 10 / kilo. I list my grocery cost for one (1) month and it as than QR 600. For your information.

My cousin is here in Qatar on a business visit visa, and looking for a job (Industrial Engineer). Today he have an offer from a car company (showroom) and offer him a total package of QR 4thou. Can you please tell me if this is enough or how much is the salary range for Industrial Engineer?
He had 3yrs experience in a car company back home.
thanks
the employer told me that gagastos ako ng around qr30-40/week on food. is this a realistic estimate? wala ako idea talaga eh. i'm being given about less than a month to decide na.
May offer sakin sa qatar, USD750 exclusive of accomodation and food, inclusive of transpo. Can i survive with this compensation there/
Hope to hear from some of noypis there.
Sorry, please check todays Peninsula, prices of all essentials and food items have increase two fold.
So, relying on old price list is a very big mistake.
In the newspaper the price of a Banana is more than Qr.1.00
Go figure.
if they've done it before, may be they could do it again...but get their assurance first. Ang alam ko, higpitan ngayon sa visa.
Just bring with you extra cash (dollars) para may pambili ka ng coffee/pepsi while waiting or in any case of emergency. and get their contact number(s)-mobiles too so you have someone from the company to call while you're in Dubai waiting.
yung employer sabi mag visit visa na lang ako to dubai then they'll get me a work visa on the same day tapos pwede na ko pumasok doha. when i told them the poea fees, namahalan sila kaya via dubai na lang. ok ba yung ganito? yung pinoy na designer na andun na ganun yung ginawa. what do you think?
ty for the info. i'll wait for that post of yours. :)
You stated: "As for the salary, maybe it's a bit higher compared to what I'm getting here now in mnl, though there are times I get that amount through moonlighting, but the fact still remains that when I'm there, I will be spending it there, not here."
What's the motivation for you to come here if you're not making a significant increase in salary?
I think it would suffice for you for the month...I can't say really...depends on how much you intend to save for your budget.
I guess, safe ka na dun...I'll check the older threads here in QL as one member posted the prices of prime commodities in the supermarkets an selected groceries. I'll post it later on...
Is that QAR 2-300 budget for food ok na o tipid yun? wala ko idea sa cost ng food dyan. as for other expenses, siguro personal stuff like soap, toothpaste and similar consumables. as for "luxuries" hindi na siguro. magkano sa tingin mo matitira?
Let's say your $700 x 3.64 = 2,600 roughly; QAR 1.00 = P 12.65 roughly; How much are you gonna send home?
let's say your your food budget for the next 4 weeks would be QAR 200 - 300 as you only get paid at the end of the month. Eh yung other personal expenses mo...Higpit ng sinturon for a couple of months siguro...no worries, kaya mo yan...
sir sorry if I posted this into your own thread. dito ko lang kasi nakita na maraming noypips na nagpost kaya sumingit na ko. :) i apologize
If your USD800 wasn't enough, then lalo na siguro yung USD700. Yes magpapadala ako back home.
I was wondering, is it really that expensive there? and that USD700 won't be enough even for my own expenses?
The salary package is good for the start and since $700 basic salary excluding the accommodation and transpo. And the fact that you're single, but would you not be sending to the Philippines or something?
I remember when I got offered $800 free accommodation and transpo, believe me, it's not enough. kaya tipid-tipid ka talaga sa simula...
Good luck....
Thank you for the replies. I purposely posted in Pilipino because I was intending to get the opinion of fellow Pinoys. I already had replies from other, non-Pilipino posters and both replied the same. The offer is indeed low.
The offer is: salary USD700 + accomodation + transport (to and from office). Company also pays for the plane ticket.
The company will be paying for the accomodation, and they have a compnay car that will take us to and from the office, so I'll just be getting the salary.
Accomodotion, according to them, will be a shared room with a fellow Pinoy. I'm not sure if it's a small room, a big apartment, whatever.
Though I'm not sure if accommodation shall include the meals. I doubt.
The job is permanent, meaning not the usual 1 year, 2 years contract like with others.
I'm single, with 8+ years experience in my field. Work shall include both print and web. I do not intend to bring my family here.
As for the salary, maybe it's a bit higher compared to what I'm getting here now in mnl, though there are times I get that amount through moonlighting, but the fact still remains that when I'm there, I will be spending it there, not here.
I guess based on the inputs, it is indeed low.
Please try to type in your comments in English because this post is not in the "Filipino Expats Group" forum so other nationalities may be keen on adding their ideas regarding the topic. Their ideas are also valuable to us as regards this topic.
Anyway, adding my two cents worth.....
1. Yes, they are right. Salary grade or level depends on country of origin because it is based on the standard of living in your country of origin. So you will find many Arabs, or even Asians having higher salary than you or even their brothers in race because they have a different nationality now based on their passport. So an Filpino accountant from the Philippines will get a lower salary than an Filipino-Canadian accountant. This is not a racist policy but a policy based on standard of living of country of origin.
2. Calculate your risk. Plan ahead. 700 dollars is not much if you are bringing your family with you. But in the end you may not earn it anyway if you stay in there. Also you don't plan to stay here for a long time. Think maybe 3 to 5 years just to gain experience and then move on or build your own company. But if you become satisfied and it is gainful then maybe you can stay on.
I know its a lot of buts and maybes. I myself spent 6 months before finally deciding to accept the offer and go here. Weigh all your options and most of all pray.
Good luck.
honestly...sobra baba ng offer sa'yo and is the USD700 basic or package? if package, never accept...
goodluck
dito pala madami noypips nagpopost.
meron din akong offer as graphic designer. offer is QR2,5xx (USD700). sa isang post ko sabi reject ko daw at sobrang baba. slave labor pa sabi ng isa.
sagot ng company yung accomodation and transpo to/from office. yung ibang details di ko pa alam. around last week lang kasi. dito pa ko mnl.
Marami ditong pinoy nasa 1800-2000 lang and basic. Kaya you are in a way, luckier than those people. Not bad!
"How we survive, is what makes us who we are"
Good day to all kababayans!I agree with iggy76 on the salary offered is based on the home country you are in. May offer kami ng mister ko to work there in Construction. Malaki ang package as in QR53000 a month for both of us excluding housing and car to be provided by the company. I know malaki talaga and the reason is we are recruited here from London. Anyway, we hope to integrate with Qatar's lifestyle and all.
ang reason why the company is asking how much your receiving in our home country eh, to give then an idea the range na ibibigay sa iyo. Usually, pag executive position ka, they will provide the accommodation and transport and family status ka. so kung QR14k basic salary lang yan i think. I myself will be moving to qatar this end of month and they gave me QR11.5K all inclusive, family status as asst chief accountant. Cost of living i understand sa qatar is high, but i all depands sa tao and your lifestyle, so dont worry about it kung just decent simple living ka lang. Goodluck bro!!!
Ok, thanks a lot for your input luisa.
As an auditor? Sa company na pinagtratrabahuhan ko eh more or less you deserve 14,000k then Family Statsu ka dapat. But as far as Ive been into several companies eh alam ko na mataas ang sweldo na sinasabi ko dahil big enough yung company to release this kind of offer. Ranging na ang ordinary secretary eh 6,500 Qr ang sweldo, how much more pa sa executive secretary with experience. If you had any friend sa doha better eh ask them kung yung company na inaaplyan mo eh prominent or lets say stabilize na company. Then thing about it. In other companies an Accountant receives 7k riyals.
i know and i believe that qatar is a family-place. but will it also be true if my basic salary is just 4,490?
thanks!
Kapatid, they been only here for 3 years and her hubby is also Filipino, both Philippines passport holder. it's clear she said 24 taw basic 'excluding' all the benefits. hmmm! Thanks for the info.
Just keep dancing, it will do you good!
"You mean nagyayabang ang amiga me na her husband is senior in QP and earning 24,000 basic salary as an accountant? huh!"
You might need to ask your friend if the 24K is really the basic salary he's receiving. It depends on the grade level (As a senior) plus how many years you've been with the company. If he's been here for probably 15+ years, it might have reached that much and if he started as grade 14 in the first place. Or if he has a canadian/british/us passport. QP senior staff usually just get 1-7% increase per year, if you're lucky like this year. Plus if you get salary revisions like last year.
Still, good for them if it really is that much.

sorry...it appears i posted my comment twice..hehe:)
I guess as a family man, you can sense your instinct is telling you what the best thing to do for your family's sake.
Well, I'd be happy if that salary/compensation/benefits,etc. from the company you joined in will come true.
About housing, sometimes you can get lucky enough to find good landlords here (not unscrupolous),who can give you fair offer.
In general, in my opinion only,Qatar seems to be a "family-oriented" place. And it's a good idea to bring your family here too. That alone can bring you peace of mind that they're with your side whatever happens.Visa depends on how fast your mandoop processing it on immigration dept.but I'm sure it will some time, after you received your own visa.
But as for me,happiness is found in contentment of oneself.
Be happy of what you have,be thankful of the air you breath:)
Good luck:)
tita, i already signed the offer sheet they sent me and forwarded my medical results with it 2 weeks ago. i was informed that the ministry of health confirmed my medical results and that the visa is already in-process. details of the package include a 2,700 housing allowance plus 13,000 furniture allowance. my basic is not that appealing but i chose to accept the offer just to add some zest in my professional career (ciao!) i'm still in saudi arabia and am receiving a little higher basic salary than what is offered.
my family will be joining me later which will upgrade my housing allowance to 5,000 plus an additional 9,000 for the furniture allowance. i've got a 10-year old and 8-month old twins. are the figures "decent" enough for a filipino family of this size?
how long does it usually take to issue a visa? in all honesty, i am excited to join them. i shall resign from my current job once i receive the visa.
thanks guys! happy valentine's!
Well, first, I need to ask if you're already here in Qatar?(seems you did not mention it here)..anyway, if I were you, I would consider to stabilize my status (visa) first. Like, are you coming here for a visit visa?or working visa?..because as I have noticed with some of our kabayans here, this is their main problem next to hiking rate on accommodatio/housing,etc.
All the other things,I mean appliances in the house or gadgets will come later after you have settled a bit longer here.If you'll be given an accommodation by the company who hired you,ask them if they already have provided a building for the staffs or do you have to look somewhere for yourself?
There are many things you need to consider when you are.
Take heed my friend.
I'm a chemist ke-mis-ter umaasa! talk to you later after I call my friends regarding your questions, okey? Business muna si lola!
Just keep dancing, it will do you good!
i already informed the company offering me employment about my concerns about the escalating rental costs and commodities and how they will assist me in case i do not find a suitable place for me to crash in. so far, no reply yet.
pero may question lang din ako esp nga sa mga kabayan nating nasa qatar na. i will also be receiving furniture allowance. i will most probably be sharing a flat with other filipinos in the beginning. as per gulf times classifieds, the range can be from QR1,800 to QR3,000. water and utilities not included. how much does it usually cost to buy an A\C, decent bed, decent 21" TV, washer and dryer, 2-burner stove and a Personal computer? I am planning to bring my own CPU and just by the monitor there.
is water and electricity expensive? in what range does it usually cost a 3-bedroom flat, each with own A\C plus the living, each with refrigerators, TV sets and PC's a month for electricity?
i have other questions: but i'll save them for later. thanks!
Kabayan,
With all these comments and advices on this forum, I guess you have already come up to a decission, right? But take it from those who stayed long enough here in Qatar, I think the knew best.Kabayan randelasalas is right,if you're not that extravagant here in Qatar, I'm sure you can set aside for your family back home. Your basic salary looks fine for me as long as the accommodation and transport is already shouldered by the company.I think you can survive here. Filipinos are known of their resiliency in times of difficult times. But most of all, don't forget to ask guidance from the Most High above:)
Good luck kabayan:)
Be good.
baka pwede mo pa enegotiate ang basic salary mo to 4taws, and additional QR500 for ur housing, at least u can get a descent room on that amount BUT sharing accomodation at madami naman dito? if you are coming as bachelor status, then 4taws basic+ QR2,500+ QR750= QR7,250? konting tyaga lang po! no worries kaya mo yan!
Ikaw nagsabi nyan hindi ako. :-), pero alam mo naman mga pinoy, sometime we tend to over exaggerate things(no offense meant)... Pwede they can recv that much kung nasa senior position na sila, and its possible. Say SVP,EVP, Director etc. Im in KSA presently, and your right aramco thus give a very nice and high salary. Your lucky your recv high salary, but darating din kami dyan, just magtyaga and sipag lang, and soon i see the fruit of my labor.
I have the same offer in Aramco (Saudi Arabia) but my hubby won't let me work at that time, small pa kasi our babies!
You mean nagyayabang ang amiga me na her husband is senior in QP and earning 24,000 basic salary as an accountant? huh!
Intriga yan pare ha!
Just keep dancing, it will do you good!
They can earn that much your right, but depend on your position, as i believe he will coming as accountant doing consolidation, that position dont give a salary that you mention. I for myself will earn a salary more than what he is offered, coz i have a higher position and status. Di naman tayo binabarat, its a choice and all depend on your experience. The issue here, will he accept or not, for me go ahead its the experience and the opportunities he would gain, thats important and money cant buy that..
I knew few Filipino working as an accountant and their minimum basic salary is 7,000 others are even higher depends on your experience and positions. plus other standard benefits like, housing, return air fare every 2 years even for a family status with 2 children, medical, paid 1 month holiday and 1 month salary gratuity every year and if you're lucky they include school fees as well!
In Saudi they offer even more for that field like in Aramco...
Just keep dancing, it will do you good!
Hi edwin I think the offer is good enough for a start. The cost of living eh it depends sa tao....Hope to see you there and we can help each other to start up, i will be working in the same company ...goodluck!!!
Hi,
just think about the cost of accommodation-- it cost 3000 to 5000 QR for a single bed-room flat, an used car cost qr 15000 to 20000 ! food is more expensive here compared to asian countries, to get a taxi is extremely difficult and that 750 qr transport allowance is nothing---
Hui
negotiate for a higher basic salary and higher housing allowance.
it should be 4000+3000+1000 and others.this should be the minimum for a qualified newcomer.
you wont get a place to stay for 2000qrs.
saving for home, you will have to ask your country men, they will know better.
this place is getting expensive, so think carefully before you sign on the dotted line and dream big of making money outside your home country.
oh by the way, no one wishes to advise anyone wrong on this forum.
Take it, if you trust the advise on a forum, you need someone to watch over you.
I wouldn't take it. It is definately NOT enough to live on, sorry.
WHAT U CAN DO WITH THAT OFFER......
share a room in a shit place, in an apartment. for 1-2000QAR
750 might just enough for taxi, as u would not like to try the shit bus service to get to office in time/home in time.
3000 basic?....after meal and some tight budget food/drink..rock bottom lifestyle. that leaves u 2000 for your home in philippine.
