I would definitely send you cv to the American universities and as well as the various government agencies. The MInistry of the Environment pays especially well with excellent housing benefits. You're a shoe-in so don't take anything less than 50,000 a month plus housing. The Americans are notorious for blanking everyone at first with claims like "we don't have positions at this time" but they're usually bluffing to see if you'll come down in your salary demands. Government agencies usually try to low-ball applicants, too, but they have more than enough to pay you what you're worth.

@Angelina

Well, my main target was trying to have some basic info before starting actual endeavors of job hunting in Qatar!

Actually do you recommend any Executive search agencies in Qatar?

BTW, I appreciate that you think I am exceptionally qualified ;)

Thanks!

Although I can't help but think why one so exceptionally qualified would be asking about opportunities on a general forum! There are executive agencies and of course head hunters for such clients!!!

There are many universities in qatar, I suggest u go for any of them rather than private companies. they will give u a better package, with a family status and so if u got lucky inshallah.

Some companies will offer you 10,000 QR/month, others will offer 50,000. If I were you I might try Carnegie-Mellon.

Oh you are welcome!

Salary-wise all depends on (your timing, your contact or referral if you got one, the less you look and sound Arabic the better :), your passport, etc)

I have no clue how much you will get offered. Do not listen or look at others.. Make your calculation based on the lifestyle and savings you want to have and put a minimum salary that you will not go under. This is the best you can do :)

@ Ahmad_Mansoor

Thanks a lot :) I've actually created different versions of my CV tailored according to the job I am targeting! And yep I am looking for something related to Biotechnology, environment, aquaculture etc where being IT savvy and polyglot is important rather than looking for an IT position in an IT firm.

Thanks again for your comments.

Do you have an idea about what kind of package I can be eligible for?

By Ahmad_Mansoor• 18 Sep 2012 18:32
Ahmad_Mansoor

My advice to you would be:

Make 2 versions of your resume.

Resume for IT - I doubt you will be hired only as an IT because your PHD studies supersede your IT background

Resume for biological research

of course mention in this resume that you are very good in IT.

If you lay down everything at once there is a chance the HR will not take you seriously or place your resume in the over qualified bin...

Good luck tho, I'm impressed with your achievements.

As far as I know French and Tunisian public universities are recognized in Qatar. I know many of my family members and friends working in Qatar with their French or Tunisian degrees.

Excellent but some universities aren't recognised here.........

My Studies Recognized? My PhD work is published in scientific journals with good Impact factors!

Most of the experimental parts were carried out in France.

@ RyanCanuck are you the same Canuck from Canada and quite active in the Dubai Expat forums?

@ Ahmad_Mansoor

I work as a biology researcher since 2003 and in the same time I taught in University (Biology, biochemistry etc...). And i work currently as a GM of an R&D company (Life Sciences and biotechnology) That's my experience in my field of studies.

I have also an Academic degree in IT.

I taught courses in University between 2005 and 2008

Before that and after that I had started my own IT companies and Was working as CEO.

My weeks were consisting of 85-95hrs of work.

I think there are many companies and institutions would need someone who is very proficient in IT and Web technologies, Who has a scientific background and knowledge and who speaks many languages.

OP,

your years of experience do not sum up with your age and your studying years. Professional experience starts the moment you work full time after finishing school...

Also, you have a PHD in biological sciences and was a CEO for IT company? hmmm

Why would anyone hire you and not hire someone who worked in what they studied? I am not being negative, just find it super weird.
