I know a couple who are jointly earning 4000Qr and they have to shell out for their food, accomodation & gas.

They still manage to save a bit every month...but that's really scraping the barrel.

So yes! you can....may not be comfy...but you can.

To each one, his/her own..

are you single? no responsibilities of sending money back home? you will live with 800$ but i doubt if you can save.

Many people survive on less than 1 US $ per day! But live? That's a different question alltogether.

I just arrived here a week ago but yes, I guess you'll be able to survive if you are not shelling out money on transpo & accommodations and will be able to save a little from your salary. It would be better if you can check if the accommodations are inclusive of internet, cable connections, electric, phone and water bills. Make sure that you can do your own cooking at home, otherwise, your hard earned money will be spent on eating out.

sunvalley how about doing some reading so you can get an idea of cost of living here in qatar.

http://www.qatarliving.com/answers/cost-of-living/how-much-should-i-expect-to-save-in-20000-pm

Even though this reading has been alive for a while is the best reference so far.

Regards!!

Yes of course. You have partly answered your query- lifestyle. But you don't have to be a spartan. Do you cook? Cooking your own food is not only cost saving, but nutritious as well. In a nut shell- it's all up to you.

Wish you the best here.
