Qatar Airways Offer - Grade 8 Position
Hi Everyone,
I've received the following offer (details below) from Qatar Airways for a grade 8 position. Initially the basic salary proposed was QAR18,000 but after negotiating a bit when they informed me they raised it slightly a few days later (even though it is still below the range I provided). Would appreciate some feedback if this is a fair offer for a grade 8 position, suitable for relocating a family of 4 to Qatar? and how much more room for negotiation there could be potentially if anyone has experiences to share or any other general advice to consider? Thanks a lot!
Proposed Basic Salary QAR19,500
Housing QAR7,500 or Company Accommodation
Transport Allowance 1,750 QAR
Utility Allowance 500 QAR
Total QAR29,250 (Including Housing Allowance) OR QAR21,750 + company accommodation
Hi, I recently got a verbal offer for a grade 7 role, maybe I can share my 2cents. There is an allowance for Education , HR advised me that its about 45k qar p.a. Maybe ask about this. I think you'd mainly subtract food then. its a good deal.. :)
Hope it helps
You did not mention the position. Is it Fligh Attendant, bla blah manager, Aircraft Mechanic, Specialist of something. ?
Let's analyze your offer step by step:
First, your accommodation: I would suggest you go for the company's accommodation. This will save you from the hassle of looking around for one and then furnishing it. Also, whenever you decide to leave the company, you will again save yourself the trouble of selling off your furniture.
Second, a major cost you may be facing is school fees. If you are a westerner, school fees is high. I have very little idea of what it's like. You may need to do your own research on this.
Third, you may be getting to spend say around QR 2000 per month on your groceries and miscellaneous items such cost of internet, petrol etc.
If you deduct the above from your package, you will get a rough idea as to how much will remain in your pocket each month. You can then decide to accept or reject the offer. As for the negotiation part, I cannot say anything on this matter. Each company has its own policies. But for Qatar Airways, I believe they must be having slabs for each grade and probably they may not be willing to change their offer unless you are something very special.
Hi, yes I forgot to mention. Only one of my children is of a school age (5 years old)
You did not mention if your children are school-going as that would make some difference in the decision-making.
