slobos why you need to tell here in qatar living that this coffee shop is worst?if you have problem on this coffee shop dont come ok?and 1st of all maybe your one of the cs2mer they called buraot....this buraot drinks a 10 riyals worth of coffee and stay for almost 12 hours for internet in this coffee shop,,,so if you are on this job and you are in this situation what you will do???so stop fucking around dumbass just kip you mouth shut up and fuck yourself
oh my god- just found Segafredo and am rapt, a proper cafe serving Italian coffee and cooking fresh cafe food including sandwiches and salads. Newspapers are available.
only down-sides are that people are allowed to smoke (although its a bit empty so not as disgusting as coffee cottage) and the Lebanese manager thinks he is the most interesting person on the planet, and whistles for his staff.
Called into The One today at Landmark. Wonderful coffee!!! I also ended up having an ice tea as a friend came along, and that was also nice. It's quieter in there, nice chairs, nice music and atmosphere. I'm sure The Villaggio's is similarly designed. The coffee is also reasonably-priced. Definitely plan to go back and sample the food.
Also managed to make it to Columbus Cafe in The Villaggio today. Yeah, I get around. Not bad either, although I must say that if I had to choose between the two, I'd probably take the extra 100 steps to get to The One cafe.
I had lunch today at the Le Pain Quotidien in Villagio. I didn't sample the coffee, but I did have an ice tea and a bowl of tomato soup. The tomato soup was pretty good, as was the tea. 26 riyals later... the food isn't badly priced (12 riyals for a bowl of soup, served with a slice of their bread), but I must kind of say drinks are a bit on the high end. So it goes, though. We're in Qatar.
The soup was a nice filling treat, though. Plus I got to enjoy my newspaper, so it was all worth it.
I'm not that big of a fan of starbucks or costas, so I was a bit upset that I couldnt really enjoy my coffee when I met up with the girls. But then they introduced me to the coffee at The One in Landmark Shopping Centre and it is devine! Its by far my favourite coffee in Doha! They also do meals there, but I'm not sure if you can smoke there anymore...
Then again, when you go to Venice for real, you'll *definitely* be sitting outside next to a hockey rink. The McDonald's is believable, unfortunately, but the rink kind of throws the whole authentication idea out the window.
Is it just me, or does the whole Venetian theme seem like something you'd find in Japan, where someone has made a weak attempt to seem international and trendy? It's cool, don't get me wrong, but it does also seem Japanese. Did Japanese people design/build Villaggio by chance?
Speaking of cold coffees and sort of McDonald's, in the States this summer McDonald's had these halfway decent iced coffees. While McDonald's usually has pseudo-food on which the American people have engorged themselves shamelessly, I must say McDonald's does make a decent and cheaply priced coffee. The iced coffees weren't too bad this summer, but I had to always tell them to put about half the amount of sugar they normally do.
Point being-- how is the coffee at McDonald's here? Do they even have coffee on offer? I've only seen the little McDonald's kiosks in malls, not an actual eatery.
Starbucks cold coffees are lovely. Try darling harbour sydney. Kingsford smith sydney....Oh yes City centre qatar. The assortment here may be a bit different. Either way its all cool
It was a fantastic idea putting a ice ring for the kiddies right next to 2 quite expensive restaurants in Villagio....but really, should we be surprised!
'Our freedom is but a light that breaks through from another world'
Heh. You're not kidding about the 'screaming kids running around' bit at the Villagio. I noticed all of them were white expats too. Last night I patronized Thai Chi (I'll do a separate review; long and short is I'd go back), and decided to sit 'outside'. Some anklebiters were playing on one of the stages set up for Ramadan entertainment, and managed to rip down one of the moons glued to the backdrop. Gah.
note taken. I would love to have someone at least serve my drinks at the counter then remembering every single menu and ordering it when the waitress arrives! Of cos i would pay for more if they are able to order at my table
The best place is Mint Coffee and Living Restaurant just opposite of Jarir bookstore. Excellent service, excellent food and drinks, and the prices are ok. You get what you paid for.
they need us to goto counter to look at the menu. but u cant order at the counter. u have tpo take a sit and wen the waitress comes, u have to order. they have no drink of their own.. only the normal stuffs like cappuccin, cafe latte, americano, espresso etc etc
I went to the Highlands mall(going to Chillis restaurant as the Chillis near Ramada has closed down, sadly) and i saw some cafes but i didn't manage to remember the names. Seems like a nice place to relax and chill out. Prob this weekend!
If you want to smoke and don't really care about the quality of your coffee, go to the coffee cottage on C-Ring road just up from Ramada junction. its very smoky and the coffee is excessively hot and weak (the service isn't friendly either), but it has comfy-looking chairs and sufficient newspapers.
Best coffee and service is starbucks (but atmosphere is sterile and its also the most expensive by far). Best atmosphere is coffee beanery, and although they provide table service, the staff move in slow-motion and aren't very confident in English.
Paul and Le Pain Quotidien in Villagio have good service, fairly good coffee but atmosphere isnt great since you're sitting in a shopping mall with screaming kids running around.
yet to try some of the others along C-Ring road i.e. La Rochelle etc. A note for the weekend!

I think the best is coffee Beanery opposite to Ramada; they have good coffee as well good service. Most important it is opening 24 hours

The ones I go to:
The complex near Ramada; Silver Cafe near the Al Sadd sport's club, or one of these places near the corniche.
If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.
near Al Sadd Club... wonderful chill-out atmosphere, nice coffee... spaceful and a lot of entertainment offered (pool, LCDs, darts,...)
and we got butlers to serve us here in the office and they make random coffees..my mood depends on them
The only constant in this world is change
Wouldn't say I am a coffee "lover" per se, more of an addict.
But yes, coffee is a necessity and a particularly good one will set me up for a great day.
