I once dated a girl who was average looking (was fresh in the dating arena at that time). I once said to her that she is very beautiful. She said to me people only see the outer beauty no one sees the inner beauty.

Same is the case with everyone here. Here people are judged on the basis of their skin complexion.

Hi All,

Arabs are beautifull>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.....

"Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder" no doubt that the Arabs are beautifull but the reall beauty is the internal beauty, the beauty of the behaviour, the beauty of the wy you treat to the non Arabs. If all the Arabs do have the thinking that they treat others as they wanna to be treated then it is needless to say that the there is no one beautifull but the Arabs.

Cheers

I've always wondered why my skin is too soft as a man! It is the first time I feel relieved to hear your feedback!

I've always wondered why my eyes and my look are so soft and kind. I thought I cannot survive surrounded by too aggressive people. Again, it is the first time i feel there are people who appreciate the kind of peace I am in.

Thanks you for the nice comments. I am planning to move to Qatar this September and I hope to find the beauty of soul that is the essence of every human...........

Abayas and thobs just accent the Arab beauty.

Now I can see why there are many romantic & emotional words in the Arabic language. They need the words to express such beautiful ideas as dignity, love, sacrifice, respect. English just doesn't have enough words. We have only one word for LOVE whereas Arabic has many words (divine Love, brotherly/sisterly love, husband/wife love, erotic love, etc.)

your poem is powerful as it allows the children's beauty to gaze beyond the constructed false boundaries or borders and into 'common skies'........gorgeous metaphorical illusions you have conjured and inshyallah the dreams held by older generations too often betrayed will be given new shape in the beauty of the children’s hands............

The light that illuminates the captivating Arabian eyes of the beloved children - contoured by the magic, mystery and fragrance of centuries unborn- is borrowed from another sky............

personally the rhythmic waves of the lovely females gliding effortlessly through plasticised shopping malls of City Centre, Landmark, Villagio, Hyatt Plaza- as though they are rehearsing their parts in Truman show-a sea of fragmented silhouetted seduction is so lyrical - yet the breeze, the ‘nasim’, that ripples the ‘abaya’ so beautifully here in Doha turns into a rather stronger wind with less beautifying consequences in the broader Arab world..

but on a lighter note, there is so much to celebrate in the Arabian vision and as a Westerner trespassing on your lime-stoned whitewashed pearling terrain stretching like a white conjuring glove to the Arabian Sea it is humbling to admire your multifaceted strengths as Voltaire and Lessing once had......

and humbly to share your optimism for the children’s future.

the spontaneous cross cultural laughter and friendships you see blossoming among the children at the schools in Doha and in those crazy fun centres in the malls – is really encouraging sign that they will build bridges of humanity – al joussour - that other generations tore down.

let us celebrate their beauty

All the best

Arab Eyes

(rework of an earlier poem)

My children both have Arab eyes

Say min fadlak and tekrum

They know of places far and wide

And politics broad spectrum

My children both have Arab eyes

That seek across false borders

That question textbooks’ specious lies

And wonder at world order

My children both have Arab eyes

That cry with childhood’s sorrows

They gaze with hope at common skies

And conjure fair tomorrows

.

.

(“Min fadlak” and “tekrum” mean “please” and “you’re welcome” in Arabic…and just fyi… “thank you” is “shukran”)

I can echo Supernurse's comments. When the abaya is lifted up, "everything is not a sight for sore eyes".

dw worked as a nurse in a plastic surgery clinic in Doha for a few months. Many of the clients (patients?) were Qatari ladies. dw saw not only the abaya come off but everything else. The stories she could tell about what she saw.

For the most part, the abaya & hijab enhances their beauty. It makes them seductive and secretive.

lol thanks Ghada,

By the way,

Most beautiful = Most stuck up / show off.

even those who dont look good at all, they think that they are the most beautiful ones.

Perhaps, this could also be the result of all the plastic surgery hahaha :P.

Don't look at the outer beauty, look at them from the inside.
