This is Qatar! There are only lousy restaurants with greasy food and very unfresh and workers are NOT clean and food is terrible.... This is Qatar! You can't expect anything good...
If you are craving for spicy Chinese then Wok n Walk is the place to try. They now have a new menu. Love the Dim sum with spicy dip or Hot n Sour soup and the Triple szechwan.
Wok n walk is located in Diamond hotel 1 which is at the R/abt called Dar Al Qutub r/abt that is close to New World Centre or sana R/abt. you can call them on 4316226. The prices are unbeatable. Great food at Great prices. A Must try
basically We are from India and Pakistan love chinese food prepared with our own spicy style, which is not available in Doha so far.
The real chinese food, we could not even swallow it, I tried once in france, it was horrible actually non spicy.
But somehow in Qatar Golden Dragon's food have good taste and heard from friends a good chinese food available (noodles and soups) at west bay petrol station next to BR and Bateel (don't know the name of food shop).
I agree with gypsy_coy.. there's reli no good chinese food here in Doha.. There's one resto in the Philippines- Jade Garden...Manchu Wok in Rockefeller Plaza, NYC USA...
gypsy_coy you can try the restaurant at Gulf Paradise Hotel. They have theme nights and I believe sunday is a Chinese day. They have a buffet for 60 QR and it's reasonably good. Now I'm hungry -__-
Had been to Great wall Restaurant this weekend. The food was lousy. they brought cold fried rice n noodles. that means cooked already and taste was simply ver bad. All the food was stale. I told the reception if i get sick out of food they r in trouble.
We visited the Tai snack shop. Dirty, hot, cheap, and food was fair.
But we have become regulars at Bejing. We have not had a bad meal there yet, out of probably 15, we eat there at least once a week, close and reasonable for the amount you get. If you like hot and spicy, like I do, the Beef with Green chili's will make sweat pour off your forehead. The sizzling chicken is very good also, not as spicy. Spring rolls melt in your mouth. Gettin hungry just thinking of it. The service is sometimes slow. We have had many meals there and brought guests there also. All of them were impressed. If it aint authentic, well then I really dont want authentic. We are sold on the place.
I plan on visiting the place that was mentioned by TV roundabout this weekend, never know, might be great too.
It kinda looks like a dump from outside but the tables and all were very clean.
I asked if they have that grilled beef that you put in a lettuce leaf and dip in the red sauce and he said they do. In korea they grill it right in front of you but he said they have to grill it in back...Will try it next time. They have a huge menu Half is korean food and half is japanese...The hard part is to decide what to order.
is in China hahaha been to Beijing their Peking Duck is awesome esp the restos in Greatwall love it. Beijing foods are beter than Shanghai for some hyg**** reasons . Better try to visit China so you could try their frog, snakes, lizzards & nails.
I went there once and it was awful. I like Korean food but that place was terrible. Maybe they had a bad day when I went there but I can't see myself going back there any time soon.
I reserved a table that had a grill on it and I ate there. My only complaint is that tables with the grills are in the middle of the room so we were right in front of the door. Other than that, I was straight. As for the regular menu, I have no idea.
We weren't terribly impressed with it. May be it's OK if you take one of the tables which seat half a dozen and they cook the food for you on a hob in the centre of the table. Food was OK but I thought rather expensive for what we had.
I went to Asia live last night (I know it is Japanese food but it beats most of the previously mentioned reataurants). I have to say I was impressed. The shrimp, lobster tail and filet was excellent. The fried rice was the best I've had in Qatar.
Charan... Marhabtain is being vulgar... read it slowly... ph makes a "f" sound... chinky is a derogatory name for Chinese people... are you getting it now ... :)
"Diplomacy is the art of saying 'Nice doggie' until you can find a rock - Will Rogers"
Best Chinese food consists of pork/pork fat and lots of it. Since pork is not available.. I'm guessing Best Chinese Food in Doha is close to non existent.
The restuarants mentioned by Kareena in Pakistan are not pure chinese resataurants , rather the taste is accustomed to the local Pakistani taste. However, the food is amazing. In Doha, unfortunately there is no good or even reasonable chinese restaurant. Beijing sucks big time.
I tried there couple of times...high on sodium...all the time...My folks complain a lot about me eating lot of salt...but even for me...Shangai Garden is too much
Those restaurants are not Pakistani restaurants.. They are Chinese restaurants run by Chinese immigrants.. There are thousands of Muslim Chinese immigrants settled down in Pakistan especially Karachi and they run the business..
Since I did not have a Chinese host we went to the Bejing restaurant. I was very pleased. Living in Texas we like our food spicy. I was very pleased that the menu there catered to our taste buds. I found the place fantastic. The food was very good, the amount you were given was plenty, the price was reasonable, and the service ok. I will go back there often, as I found it very good with a nice atmosphere. New people to doha please take notice, worth the trip here. We tried the Great Wall a few weeks ago and found it not to be nearly as good as the Bejing restaurant across from the Mega mart. I appreciate all of your comments. Now, where can you get small shrim to make a gumbo?
I have never ever had any decent Chinese food in Qatar in the last 28 years I have been here. When it comes to delicious yummy Chinese food, no one can beat Pakistan especially Karachi.. Yong Tang at Tariq Road, Mink Court, Imperial Court, Jade's Garden, Sussie wonk, Dynasty.. The list is endless.. Not just Chinese, everything you get in Karachi is absolutely out of this world.... I am fasting right now and I should not be thinking about Karachi food.. So bad of me..
so far by experience only 2. 1st: wok of fame (villagio) then 2nd: great wall (behind ramada & the center) just choose wisely the food that you want to eat. others we havent tasted yet.
at Chopsticks, Grand Regency Hotel. Been many times and find the flavours authentic and the service excellent. Bit chilly inside, but they did provide me with a pashmina!
Beijing is good if you haven't had Chinese food in a long time. We went there the other night. Service was slow, but this is Doha. The hot and sour soup was very good. Good luck
well, i prefer the original chinese food which cooked in a chinese home. ;-) it is much much better than any restaurant here in doha. (sorry for saying so, but it's true!) my suggestion is--- find a chinese friend and be the guest. Good Luck! :-)

This is Qatar! There are only lousy restaurants with greasy food and very unfresh and workers are NOT clean and food is terrible.... This is Qatar! You can't expect anything good...
China is a huge country and tastes vary. Some regions do eat very spicy food!!!
"The real chinese food, we could not even swallow it, I tried once in france, it was horrible actually non spicy."
Poor you! I'll phone the Qatari and French Embassies' and see if we can make some spicy Chinese food to meet your Indian taste. You Ignorant fool.
Dont tell everyone, but all food does not have to be spicy.

Marhabtain, Novita is actually quite correct so u're the blonde. It isn't in the centre, it's in the area just behind it.
My top 3:
1. Shanghai Chinese Gardern (City Center - 3rd Flr)
You'll enjoy the Buffet!
2. Beijing (Opposite The Center)
Love the Soups and Sizzlings
3. Wok of Fame (Villagio)
Nice Fried Rice and Sea Foods
BONNE APETIS...
I've tried all Chinese/Japanese/Asian restaurants in Doha.
some where good and became so and so and some were not good.
I am sorry if I can't say the difference between Asian cosines and I am trying to. but it is hard.
anyway. My brother took his Chinese friends to chopsticks in Grand Regency and they didn't recommended it.
the one at movenpick towers used to be good, but since they change the chef, the quality went down.
the one at the Marriott is so and so, depends on what you order.
anyone tried the one at Royal Plaza??

There is no chinese restaurant in Doha that offers Chinese food except one in Marriott Hotel Called Asia Restaurant...
Literally, this is the only Chinese restaurant in town
basically We are from India and Pakistan love chinese food prepared with our own spicy style, which is not available in Doha so far.

I like the "takeaway"/"junk" kinda chinese food, so my vote goes for the Golden Dragon in City Centre. Yummy, spicy & superquick!
I agree with gypsy_coy.. there's reli no good chinese food here in Doha.. There's one resto in the Philippines- Jade Garden...Manchu Wok in Rockefeller Plaza, NYC USA...
thanks marc, there's no harm in tryin'.....(pouting mode)
gypsy_coy you can try the restaurant at Gulf Paradise Hotel. They have theme nights and I believe sunday is a Chinese day. They have a buffet for 60 QR and it's reasonably good. Now I'm hungry -__-
good chinese food in doha is nowhere to be found.......
hi SheDBabe, Wok and Walk is in Diamond hotel.
"Wok & Walk" is gud. The food is yummy. I love their ambiance...and their take away packing.
yesterday’s history, tomorrow’s a mystery, today’s a gift; that’s why they call it the “present”.
Had been to Great wall Restaurant this weekend. The food was lousy. they brought cold fried rice n noodles. that means cooked already and taste was simply ver bad. All the food was stale. I told the reception if i get sick out of food they r in trouble.
Been there too. Food is great but as you said, service is not that much.
Go and try their buffet dinner in Shanghai Gardens ity Center...

Alexa .. Have seen them specifyin the cuisine like
chinese - canton
chinese - Korean
chinese - malasian.. who can spray some light to this??.. and I found as you said the chinese-malasian the best.
I went there once and it was awful. I like Korean food but that place was terrible. Maybe they had a bad day when I went there but I can't see myself going back there any time soon.

They were lovely...
I think your right about the grill...
You have to make reservations though...I think...
Karin and I might try the Korean place across from hardees on C ring...Anyone ever ate there???

We weren't terribly impressed with it. May be it's OK if you take one of the tables which seat half a dozen and they cook the food for you on a hob in the centre of the table. Food was OK but I thought rather expensive for what we had.

Just a short question after all sharing best places to eat. How can a muslim know that place is Halal? Is there any sign to look up for?
Shanghai Gardens is great as well
lots of chinese restaurants in doha but only quite a few

Best Chinese food consists of pork/pork fat and lots of it. Since pork is not available.. I'm guessing Best Chinese Food in Doha is close to non existent.
there is no real good chinese rest in Doha actually.
i've really tried most of them in here.
If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.
you should all try asien traditional restaurant . next to TV round about,....so much better than Beijing!!! Its amazing!
I tried there couple of times...high on sodium...all the time...My folks complain a lot about me eating lot of salt...but even for me...Shangai Garden is too much
my opinion, if you want a chinese food with more original taste, you can go to Shanghai Garden in city center, Great Wall behind ramada ...
However, if you prefer chinese food with more western taste you can go to Ruby Wu in Ramada Plaza or Wok of Fame in Villagio.
I can not say which one is better, it depends on your personal taste ...
Those restaurants are not Pakistani restaurants.. They are Chinese restaurants run by Chinese immigrants.. There are thousands of Muslim Chinese immigrants settled down in Pakistan especially Karachi and they run the business..

Taking notes of these chinese restaurant in Doha.
Will try it one by one, soon.

So far I found only wok of fame at Villagio is the most authentic.
Great Wall, Beijing, all is just so so..
Interesting.. Kareena74, you mean the best Chinese food actually comes from Karachi, a Pakistani Restaurant?
I have never ever had any decent Chinese food in Qatar in the last 28 years I have been here. When it comes to delicious yummy Chinese food, no one can beat Pakistan especially Karachi.. If you guys love Noodles you should try wok me noodles house in Movenpick Tower. Is not cheap but the food is good.
i miss those awesome noodles i had in Chinatown NY, at a place called the Hong Kong Noodle Shop, or something similar...
that chicken broth base was just heavenly...
so far by experience only 2. 1st: wok of fame (villagio) then 2nd: great wall (behind ramada & the center) just choose wisely the food that you want to eat. others we havent tasted yet.

simply doesnt exist here. the schezwan is terrible, the soups all taste the same, and half the dishes are modified according to whoever's cooking.
Beijing is good if you haven't had Chinese food in a long time. We went there the other night. Service was slow, but this is Doha. The hot and sour soup was very good. Good luck
Tex
"life is short, live it"
and we haven't been to Beijing Rest as yet. But we thought Thai Chai in Villagio was ok - Cantonese style and not overly expensive.
Veni, vidi, viva.
Food at Great Wall is great, depend on what you tried.
I like spicy and hot...
Sichuan beef is very good!

across ramada,..
Where is Bejing restaurant?
We have seen the one across from the Ramada, did not know if it was any good though.
Thanks
Novita is blonde - its actually IN the Center. Oh and its bloody horrible food. YUK! Gin time etc etc
where is this great wall behind the centre?
Beijing Chinese Restaurant....
wok of fame steam boat not brilliant but ok.
we like great wall behind the centre.
there is one opposite RAMADA Hotel which serve quite decent chinese foods....
there are 2 in VILLAGIO, one of them sells steamboat which is quite nice (WOK OF FAME)
enjoy..
(but i still prefer those chinese food from my home country)
