ethics

ethics means "motivation based on ideas of right and wrong". I was raised by my grandparents and living with them on my growing years isn't quite easy. They put many standards on me and mold me with the guidance of our religion and beliefs. As I matured i gained all what they have thought me to be a person and so now, i strongly beleive i have this so called "ethics" that my grandparents thought me all along. As i observed to some people (take note: SOME PEOPLE)that I encountered in my daily activities here in QATAR i feel pitty for these people who are very rude and nasty treating asians like in the grocery store. An asian is obviously on the counter to pay for his grocery to the cashier and some Qatar person (if she really is a person) moved all the stuffs of the asian and went directly to the cashier and so the asian is speechless because she is a QATARI. Yes, admit it this is their territory but a simple instruction like "FALL IN LINE" is it that hard to follow? I mean, i bet your parents and ancestors thought you more than my grandparents did. How? You have strong belief in your religion and praying like how many times a day??? And how do you apply it to your daily living??? If you treat asians like these in a grocey store? How much more you treat your asian maids in your house? Do you really live your life in righteous way?? Do you really have ethics?? I bet you don't.

good for you if you dont have any mistreatment from Qatari's yet. too bad if an asian like you mistreated and thought of you as a dumb or maid or whatever. But, before you must react to my post. May i ask if you really understand what i meant? Did you read the sentence in my post "take note: some people". And so, i clearly said and meant that NOT ALL QATARI'S ARE RUDE, SOME OF THEM OK?. and for your information, there are times in carrefour that they have a lot of customers in line and sometimes they have no bagger. Is it hard for you to give a hand to the cashier to put the stuffs you purchased? because if im in a hurry and there's no bagger available i personally put in plastic bags all i bought. Common sense, right? But if your too lazy to do it, then wait in vain for crying out loud!

thanks aisha, may others be like you. i always have great respect to people like you. Regardless of race/nationality, status in life, or culture, you know how to respect people and that is the meaning of our life on earth. to be a good person. keep it up! Although i experienced such treatment, i still never blame that rude person because she will gain what she'd done later on and i dont judge all Qatari's to be rude because some i met are pretty nice. God bless you aisha.

From my expereince Qataris are not all the same, at the gym i've been given many an evil stare by certain Qataris, i have no idea why, but at the same time been greeted by others.

that not all Qataris are the same. Each has their own characteristics,or the way they were brought up. Not all Qataris are rude. It's just unfortunate that you met one.

Yeah, re Carrefour City Centre episode - I was humbled by the Qatari's non-reaction and remembered not to react as well, even though I was really stressed out after a really bad day and usually have no patience for fools and idiots, like that Asian cashier.

/Having said that, most of the Asian cashiers are pleasant.

No Qatari ever does that to me.

What about the time at Carrefour in City Centre where the Asian cashier was rude to a Qatari lady? I saw it because I was next in line. That Asian cashier was equally rude to me. The Qatari lady reacted with good manners. Actually, she didn't react but merely paid for her stuff and moved away. She had to put her own stuff into those plastic bags too. The cashier didn't bother at all.

In fact the people who have been rude to me, as an Asian - are other Asians - who assume that I'm a maid or the toilet cleaner (Ok. sh*t, do I really look that bad?), Westerners (African American, Caucasian, etc) and other Arabs.

The Caucasian women tend to be smarter and read my body language more effectively while some of the others are dumb and thus, get a firing to their faces, like when they simply cut queue for the City Centre Cinema ladies restrooms. Never once did a Qatari lady ever disrespect me. And I'm out and about very often.

"FALL IN LINE" is what I tell these rude specimens. And if they dare to argue, hell not a good idea to think that I'm a doormat. Because the next statement would be "Do you have manners from the gutter?" and a couple of other more direct statements, if anyone wants to try.
