How's the homeschooling?
This question always intrigued me.
How is the Homeschooling here in Qatar?
I don't know if it is the same as in Jordan, in Jordan you go to the ministry of education, and choose the curriculum you want to study (Like accelerated curriculum, advanced etc..)
Is it the same here in Qatar? Do you need specific requirements for signing up for homeschooling?
Any specific schooling curriculum?
Thanks.
Qatar has one of the highest homeschooling rates in the world, due to severe lack of places in schools. I don’t know much about homeschooling but I know my children learn better if it comes from a third party not me. If you are looking for material to assist in Mathematics have a look at the link below.

It provides material and guidance for Mathematics across a full age range.
You can always enter students through the British counsel to do IGCSE and A- level exams.
Ideally, you might have home schooling groups that would meet for socialization and field trips.
The American School of Doha has 2,000 people on their waiting list. So those students are going to have to get educated somewhere.
I partially agree with you Frenchies.
Well it really depends on the community, the educational curriculum in Japan is way different than say ME .
ME's schooling curriculum are a shame, most of the students don't even go to school to learn, and the school doesn't mind that.
But still ,I persist with my question, are there any specific steps to take for homeschooling? any specific homeschooling curriculum? like accelerated? etc...
Plenty of homeschoolers in Qatar, but I can't imagine the SEC really taking in interest in what expats do at home when it can't effectively oversee the existing schools.
Not everyone can be a prodigy :o)
Times have changed. Parents need to do more in order for the child to excel and succeed. However, I do believe that homeschooling isolates the child and makes them insular..
For which reason I chose to send my daughter to school is that I felt she learned much better when out of home and in a group. Being an only child, school is her only outlet to mingle with other kids and make friends. However in recent times, I am back to contemplating homeschooling, specially after watchings vids like the one blosted posted yesterday on child prodigies.
In my family no one was ever homeschooled, however seeing my friends' successes makes me quite motivated. So let's see...
This is an interesting issue..
Yes, homeschooling can be beneficial , but it also stops the child from interacting with a wider spectrum of individuals and thus can have a negative long term affect.
In some countries home schooling is illegal, and in some legal but with a lot of conditions and requirements. However in Qatar it's a breeze..at least from the legal aspect. From what I know you are the boss, however if I find out otherwise will surely let you know.
However it can also be a huge advantage. And yes bring much accolades. Many of my friends home school their kids, majority of them are westerners. And one of them a Sri Lankan. I too dabbled with the idea once upon a time, and kept it up for a year, but could not quite keep up with it due to certain reasons.
A lot of material is available online..just do a long hard search. No program and methodology is one size fits all, so you will have to dedicate a lot of time and effort in finding what you deem best for your kids.
All the best!
PrarieFire~Homeschooling does not "stunt the development of your child's social skills"! Obviously, you know very little about Homeschooling.
Blosted~Exactly! It make for happier children and responsible adults.
the middle eastern "society" especially when it comes to education is really really useless.
if I had any child i'd rather get him grouped with other home schooled , and finish in 2 hours what takes them to finish in 8 hours (normal school day), and the rest of the day ,he can be doing things that are actually useful.
Other than learning the same bunkam for 12 years.
why on earth would you stunt the development of your child's social skills
