my best friend and I can be half a world away from each other and pick back up where we left off in a second. I trust him with things that I would otherwise keep completly to myself. He is probably the only person that fully understands me; good, bad, and ugly. Seems we are always on the same page and never have to ask a question of each other twice, sometimes not even once its all understood. A very special thing indeed

Snowyowl, that's a friend and a GOOD DOG! Actually, mine (yellow lab) is the same. I've never fed her human food and she doesn't know how to beg. But my kitty is another matter!

Ahh...speed, you obviously haven't had a dog as a friend. As in most friendships both parties have to give, so if you give respect to the dog as a dog, the dog will be your loyal friend. Ask anyone who has a trained companion dog and they will certainly agree.
