Manchester United in Doha

I am an American so I cant fully appreciate this, but maybe you all will... I was at a certain hotel last night having coffee with a friend, and some guys walked by, and i was like, "isnt that the guy from the video game"... we were not sure cause a) what do we know about football, and b)why would anyone be in doha....

anyway, walked by this tall guy, and started talking to him... apparently they are in town training because it is so cold in UK. I had no clue who the guy was, but late when i went home, i looked on the internet and saw that he was the goalie...

crazy place doha.

They train at Aspire Academy, but I doubt the security will let you anywhere near. Even Aspire staff were allowed to view only today. They train at football pitch no.4. Try your luck.

They will train in the mornings every day before leaving on thursday. They have a press conference at 11am today on the pitch at aspire. I went down yesterday lunchtime to aspire just to see them finish their training session.

Btw, i love fergie even more after his recent comments about this unknown country - too (MOD NOTE: refrain from using swear words or you will be banned) right fergie, this place is soo backward - take the money and the sun and run!

Sir Alex will do as he is Told by his board members. If you alienate your customers your sunk, Dont be so naive.

When you can fly for 2/3 hours to a nicer location why would you come here? Certainly not weather.

Yep Sir Alex tells it how he sees it... I dont think he will be buying into the spin doctor culture any time soon.

To be truthful I prefer his non-sycophantic behaviour to all this false celebrity hype. Honesty is becoming rather refreshing...

He needs to get the lads trained.

Good facilities here

Minimum fuss

Deal done

As a life long critic but reluctant admirer of Sir Alex, I can say in all honesty that he wont be be remotley apologetic for his comments. He has said far worse comments to others (this season alone).

If you think he's come here for any other reason than to train his squad out of the snow and ice, especially after a couple of poor results, you'd be mistaken.

He probably still doesnt know where he is!!

The Team is here as makeup for recent comments from the manager regarding Qatar and the Brasil/England match.

Comments such as Matches in "some unknown country".

After the event this is seen as an I am sorry to one of the biggest Growth Areas for Football in the world at the moment.

Give me a hotel name...

Manchedter united player's accomandation...

FYI this is why they would be here

a) great weather

b) excellent stadiums where they can train relatively unhindered

Gharafa for example... even Shamal has a great stadium!

Mr M.

I don't think they would be playing here in doha, they are here to train at the aspire academy, and on top of that,i think the general public wouldn't be allowed to watch them training, just as when brazil and england were training for their match, the public was kept out.

'Why would anyone be in Doha?'

So why are you here in this 'crazy' place and not somewhere sane like Texas?
