New Year Eve at QL

New Year's Eve is an excuse for inflated door charges and hangovers. Armed with my laptop, I am staying at home and going to a virtual party instead.. So why don't you join me..

I don't want to make you jealous, but I will be spending New Year's Eve here at QL. What's more, it isn't going to cost me a penny - or a cent - and I am going to have a prime view of the fireworks, without having to endure the crush of an over-excited crowd.

It gets better. I don't even have to make a long drive or get stuck in traffic, because QL is coming to me. Yes, I will be celebrating online.

The initial reaction of my friends could be: "Urggh, how sad. Only complete losers and perverts would spend New Year's Eve at home on their computers."

But then they think about it. They think about the crowds and the cold. They think about the pubs they have paid QR200 to get into, only to find that they have to stand five-deep in a queue for the bar, where drinks have doubled in price.

I can't take credit for the idea of spending New Year's Eve at home online, because thousands of other people have already had it - users of showbiz for example...

Sounds like bliss, doesn't it?

i spent the last evening in the desert by the sea shore surrounded by dunes..!!

it was a moonlit night and the dunes looked golden while the ocean looked sparkling silver..

the ambiance in the safari camp was great...djs playing the best of music and 'spirits' flowing everywhere and the bonfire for guys n gals to dance around..

some local lads also participated by clapping and whistling from the dunes around outside the camp..

it was one of the most enjoyable evenings in doha..

The Old Year has gone. Let the dead past bury its own dead. The New Year has taken possession of the clock of time. All hail the duties and possibilities of the coming twelve months!

When the mid-nite bell rings tonight...

Let it signify new and better things for you,

let it signify a realisation of all things you wish for,

Let it signify a year of courage and believes,

Wishing you a very...very...very prosperious 2010.

Cheer -AK

Anthoworx, you certainly aren't going to do that right??. I mean this is Qatar, there are so many things to do, you can make friends at many places, join a club, go to coffee shops, join volunteer work as an opportunity to make friends, you can actually make friends right here on QL if you have the right strategy, but please dont stay at home and party here (duh!). Even I am somewhat in your kind of situation right now, but whatever happens I make sure that if I'm not partying , ill at least be hanging out or just be out, but NOT AT HOME. These are my suggestions, the rest is up to you. Cheers! and Advanced New Year wishes. :)

anthoworx, no girlfriend, no invites out, no friends?

seems lame to sit on a website all night? You can do that any night and there are places with no cover charge? Dont sit at home alone!!
