Qatar or America?

ravibird603
By ravibird603

Well, I used to live in Qatar for 10 years, but then I moved to America just one year ago. Just recently, I heard that rents of houses are going up and the future will not be THAT bright. What do you guys think is better; Qatar or America? Please tell me your reasons and why. Thanks!

I hope that there will be more cameras and more patrols to stop those people.

I don't give a damn about their lives, it's the fact that they put other people's lives at risk.

I was not talking down, I just founded to 'coincidental' that hummer has been to the same countries I've been to. I was given the impression that he was simply saying what he said to simply reply rather to give a level answer.

If you go on and read my reply you will see that he totally disregards the meaning behind my post.

He understands it as "no Qatar is not bad" but I am saying that "Qatar is not AS bad as certain countries"

I have ALWAYS stopped for pedestrians :)

there is no argument, driving in the states must be better than Qatar. (or so I assume)

i agree with hummer here....just back from a vacation in states and i can tell you for certain the respect car drivers have for pedestrians there draws no comparison to the situation here.sure there were traffic jams but didnt see anybody try the tricks they do here.

I've lived all over the US, and in some of the major cities and traveled the world...Hummer is right..the US gov. website cites Qatar as being the extreme driving site. Since the laws have changed..yes some of the drivers have become better and have slowed down. However..from what I've observed, it hasn't been the ones who needed to do that..the land cruisers and range rovers are still dangerous.

I just now came in from driving to the mall and this Land Cruiser went by so fast that he almost took off another car's bumper with him when he went by going at LEAST 150...traffic was extremely close and he was zigging in and out between cars.

I also think that it was perhaps the tone that you wrote in that gave Hummers the thought that you were being arrogant..because you sounded it...the google comment was just one of those...You are still very young amnesia...might do you some good to learn to deal with people on a level basis instead of talking down to them.

I don't know how my reply is arrogant, but you've clearly demonstrated that you are hyper-sensitive.

From my 7yrs of experience , driving in a big city like Miami, Los Angles, or Newyork is way tougher than any part of Qatar. Traffice congestion is one of the problems. Chances are you have to spend a hour before and after your job just on the traffic jam.

why did the US government say that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction?

Hummers how old are you?

I think I need to elaborate on my words. I am NOT disputing the fact that there are bad drivers, I am saying that there are WORSE drivers in the countries mentioned. READ and UNDERSTAND!

I am tempted to ask where in those countries you've lived, but I somehow think google will play a major factor.

Feel free to join facebook and see my account for photos.

I think I should take a video of the driving conditions and put it on my site to shut a few people up.

You will have good drivers and bad drivers, if you are always in 'bad driver' situations, what does it say about your own driving skill?

Then why does the US state department have a travel advisory that comments driving in Doha is a form of “extreme sport”

That has nothing to do with aggression right!!!

I've lived in those countries as well amnesia...fancy that hey....anyway whatever, I seriously cant be bothered, have a nice day :D

dude, you are adding more onto what you say.

I've DRIVEN in those countries. I've SEEN it.

Lived in China for 3 months, UK for 5 years, India for 6 months. I know how it goes!

But you've decided what you want to believe already so I guess there is nothing else I can say.

Go to China, India, Thailand, or even tiny villages in the UK to see crazy driving.

>>I have and I'll tell you the difference- they don't have the aggression that Qatar drivers seem to have- like there out to kill anyone that gets in their way...oh and they don't have the arrogance with beeping being a friendly gesture....yeah I see that here all the time!

hmmmmmmm mountains and lakes in Qatar where where where

The scenery is more diverse in Qatar with beautiful mountains, lakes and plains from sea to shining sea. America is too boring and the drivers are crazy and reckless. There is nothing to do there and the dollar is worthless.

those who say traffic gets worse everyday are moving their lips but obvious are blind and shouldn't be driving in the first place.

The laws which have recently changed definately show that driving is great.

Go to China, India, Thailand, or even tiny villages in the UK to see crazy driving.

As for cost of living, rents are the only thing to worry about here, but then again, you are more likely to have your rent paid for (at least in part) than you are in the US

Good question/thread.

With the sub-prime meltdown in the US and the falling exchange rate of the US peso, I think America might be more affordable (provided you don't need health care--health care costs in the US are what housing is in Doha).

If Americans could actually take their opposing digits out of their a**es and implement an universal, publicly funded health care system, they would rock!

I read that GW recently vetoed a bill that would have made health care available to children because he is philosophically opposed to governments providing services to citizens.

The traffic gets worse every day, especially since they started building that Pearl idland thing, nothing but non-stop dump-trucks roaring through the city. The living expenses are going through the roof, rents are ridiculous... are you going to have a good, high-paying job over here?
