Ramadan in Qatar

Hi all,

I'm an English Ex-pat based in Dubai but will be working on an assignment in Doha for 6 months or so. I like one or two beers after work and am wondering what's the deal during Ramadan? I've heard it's completely dry but also heard you can get a beer to drink in your room if your staying in a hotel?

Cheers,
Shaun

A lot of expats in Qatar have liquor licenses for their homes, and stock up before Ramadan. Do you know any residents in Qatar, who you can pop round to visit for a drink?

Typical!

Go for one of the international branded hotels such as the Intercon, marriott etc...

Yes, definitely better to stay in a hotel. keep in mind though that there are a couple of hotels that don't serve alcohol all year round.

check which hotel they will put you in.

Thanks Baldrick2dogs. So deffo a good idea to stay in a hotel rather than a company apartment then! At least during September.

Shaun, You are 100% right.

No beers in the bars or restaurants, but mini bars are open 24 hours ;o)

Last Ramadan I stayed at the Marriot. You are limited to the stock in the fridge each day - they will NOT restock for you if you run out until next morning!
