US Elections
By Super Cool •
Good Afternoon everybody,
Today marks the beginning of what seems to be one of the tightest "and probably nastiest" presidential races in recent history for the US. This is (((NOT))) a discussion on who's better and who's worse.
Just trying to see who u (((expect))) to win and why.
Salute
Perhaps. But I'm still not convinced that democracy in and of itself is necessarily the best long-term goal for Qatar (or for many countries for that matter), at least not a direct democracy. Constitutional monarchy has a lot to be said for it. But then the world is changing so rapidly that it's hard to make many credible long term predictions any more.
Qatar is to use the power of youth to its best, with correct vision, mission and high goals.
Victory--I agree. That's why I didn't call anyone backward or uneducated. Those were super cool's labels.
Even I personally think giving a tag of backwardness or uneducated will not serve any purpose.
In the time of internet and tremendous amount of global information availble to the people.
Those with basic+further educations, ethical and moral values could work towards democratic principles in 10 years plans or phases. I am sure the new generation could take the lead if given an opportunity to shoulder responsibilities with proper vision and direction from seniors.
"Backward" is your word, not mine. Stop putting words in my mouth and making false assumptions. You clearly have an enormous chip on your shoulder. You're so angry that you can even accept it when someone agrees with you. Get over it, gain some perspective, and lashing out.
IMO--ready for democracy has nothing to do with backwardness or forwardness. Democracy, like any form of government, does not fit all societies, and it's folly to think it does.
You really make me laugh super cool. The fact that you have to claim how important you are just shows how much you realize you are losing the argument that you have to try and resort to name-calling and sad attempts at intimidation.
It also emphasizes your earlier point about how you are not ready for democracy--a point I agreed with, but you still can't seem to process.
I never claimed that we r ready for democracy dude!!! And yes I do know that ur agreeing with me....but my reasons r totally different than urs and they have nothing to do with me thinking ppl r BACKWARD nor am I putting ‘em down by my statement….for some reason u fail to see that
AND having worked so hard for many yrs as an advocate for change along with the VERY few who have helped implement change I will not let u nor anyone else undermine what I and other have done simply cuz we don’t appeal to u….Yes I’m part of it and no one can take that from me cuz my work speaks for itself "according to u"
^^^^^
Do u even know what my role is in Qatar's 2030 vision to speak of me as a "backward" example that's holding Qatar back!!??? hehehe This is truly funny considering my current job duties...Do u know that I've been hand selected yrs ago to champion my role and have been an official ambassador for the cause since??? Why do u think I've been to so many countries??? And why do u think I speak several languages???
Once again u try to put ppl down because of who they r not cuz of what they do....but the end u keep showing us all that u dunno jack s***
Super cool said: "I'm saying there's no way in heaven or hell that Qataris can handle a full on parliament right now with the current level of global awareness amongs Qataris"
I totally agree with that comment. Democracy would destroy this country and the progress it has made over the past two decades, because it would give people like him a voice in government. Qatar would revert back to what it was in the 1930s/early 40s--about 20,000 people starving in abandoned fishing villages and living in real fear of its neighbors. Best to leave it to the handful of Qataris who have a proven themselves capable of implementing a vision that will better this country's chances of survival and prosperity.
I enjoy your thesis on the Regional politics and rigged elections.
Even Qatar is not far behind in that way, I know some people using rent a car for month and go door to door to collect zakats (charity). Even poors in these countries could not to be called as poors.
The poverty line in India is meagre 80 UK pence or less than 2 US dollars, that we could called them really poor.
@ Victory_278692
That's what they want u to believe....The countries where a revolution succeeded were countries WITH existing elections except they were rigged elections to benefit a certain someone and where ppl lived way beyond the poverty line.
Bahrain and Kuwait on the other hand r existing monarchies...Not any different than the UK....They r legal governments with legal systems who came into power legally and who govern legally. By UN standards they r valid systems, and whether some don’t like the system and whish to change it is another story all together, but they r not to be compared with a fraudulent system like rigged elections. It’s enough to say that the poor local in those countries is one who owns a house and car and received free utilities, health care and education!!! That’s upper class by ANY international standard. No comparison what so ever. Any revolution in those countries stems purely from either lack of knowledge or influence from Iran who made its desires for expansion in the GCC region very public.
Even, I believe that Democracy is for educated and informed masses. But that should not deprived other people from benefit of people rules.
Lets look at Obama for instance, his approach and attention towards common man's issues and major focus on country's economic and social conditions.
The issue of Kuwait and Bahrain is the concentration of Wealth and Power in few hands and its shares not reaching to the common man, hence the revolt. Mass awareness is always good.
Honestly, Was never Concerned about US Presidential Elections, Reason being USA & the World is being Controlled by the "Elites" like the Lights of "Rockefeller", Jewish Lobbies, & they want the Best Man to Continue their Policies...
New World Order is Coming into Place... People Lost & the Elite Won again..
Congratulations to President Barack Obama for bringing it once again!
"When it comes to Bahrain, the problem is that a large number of the population have to AND ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO "according to their religious beliefs" follow the instructions of some guy in another country, word for word, coma for coma, and dot for dot and not disobey a single command he gives or they'll end up in hell....imagine what that arrangement can do in a free voting society??? it will mean that voters will have vote as instructed by ONE MAN and cannot disobey him in any way or form, so one non Bahraini guy can control the outcome of pretty much every elections that will happen in Bahrain!!!!"
And that means that those poor creatures are bloody idiots who need a "master" to tell them what to do word for word, dot for dot, and so on.
how noble!!!!
Wow! Barack Obama was re-elected!!!
thats easy - Venezuela
i agree with u Super Cool......that's absolutely right!!
@ Victory_278692
I said what's happening in Kuwait is NOT good...I think u misunderstood my statement
What's happening in Kuwait AND Bahrain since u mentioned it, is an example of nations where IF they were given the right to vote they would abuse that power in the worst way and end up in a bad situation.
Kuwait has been standing stagnant for decades. The private sector is doing fine and ALL government sectors with no exceptions r in the gutter because every time there's a vote, SOMEONE on one of the ends veto’s or votes against for "PERSONAL" reasons!!!! Simply because they r not mentally equipped for democracy and still take things personally and seek personal gain.
When it comes to Bahrain, the problem is that a large number of the population have to AND ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO "according to their religious beliefs" follow the instructions of some guy in another country, word for word, coma for coma, and dot for dot and not disobey a single command he gives or they'll end up in hell....imagine what that arrangement can do in a free voting society??? it will mean that voters will have vote as instructed by ONE MAN and cannot disobey him in any way or form, so one non Bahraini guy can control the outcome of pretty much every elections that will happen in Bahrain!!!!
Those r 2 PRIME examples of nations that cannot and WILL NOT be able to survive a democracy.
O Bummer o:(
democracy should not be a "universal system" but I do consider it a good system for the "well informed and well educated" ONLY" your quote.
As per your above definition, it is very difficult to have democracy in most of the countries in the World.
I too believe that whats happening in Kuwait and Bahrain for democracy is good and need all nationals to be aware of how to run a country.
@ MN
I'm saying there's no way in heaven or hell that Qataris can handle a full on parliament right now with the current level of global awareness amongs Qataris, but they might be able to handle a consultative council to be elected and consulted as needed as a representative of the people's voice. Having said that, I certainly believe that the main reason for the current changes in Qatar is the desires of the ruling party/the Emir altho it's unfortunately opposed by a BIG number of locals who hate change and see it as a bad movement. The good thing is, with the type/style of change in Qatar, theres bound to be more global awareness down the line because of the major globalization taking place, at which point democratic elections would make sense....BUT NOT NOW
I think what's happening in Kuwait these days is a PRIME EXAMPLE of what could happen when elections take place in a country of the misinformed....Abuse of power becomes eminent
Ryan: whether it's Russia, the US, the Ukraine, Denmark, Japan, Canada, democracy is for the wolves to tell the chickens what's on for dinner.
As far as transparency is concerned, well you could ask the bankers on Wall St.
The elite rich billionaires and trillonars pay people off and most the politicians. Take bribes that are how they all live in million dollar houses on their 100-200k a year salary.
Super Cool: So what you saying is, Qataris are not "well informed and well educated" because this country isn't a democracy?
@Super Cool, don't confuse my opinions with Marco's. I was just trying to clarify what it was he was saying (lots of general statements, but no specifics).
@ Ryan
I wouldn't go as far as saying democracy doesn't exist anywhere like MN is saying, but I would like to recall something I was once told by a sociology teacher. He said that Nigeria is a country that has natural resources and Oil enough to turn it into a very rich country. Right now it's doing "OK" but if for whatever reason it turned completely democratic with formal elections the country will collapse, being that there is a large number of cannibals and militant groups in Nigeria who form the majority over the educated minority.
I think u get the point
I personally don't believe democracy to be a "universal system" but I do consider it a good system for the "well informed and well educated" ONLY. As kids our parents deal with us pretty much as dictators do to their nations, in that they decide everything on our behalf, and we have to gladly follow whether we like it or not. Had they not done that, we'd “probably” be fat, uneducated adults with bad health and no future!!! We simply lacked the mental capacity and the education to make decisions back then.
Consider for a second that for MANY nations that's the case for always and not just childhood…..unfortunately that is
Marco: So I have to conclude that you feel all countries with 'democracies' are exactly the same in terms of the effectiveness, transparency and fairness of their systems. Russia, the US, the Ukraine, Denmark, Japan, Canada, all the same in your eyes.
@ West bay Lagoon
Don't be a sore loser!!!!
Ryan: none..
That's not really an answer to my question.
Ryan: There is no true democracy in this world, simply because a true Democracy has never worked. The US is not now, nor has it ever been, a Democracy. It is a Representative Republicans that operates on Democratic principles. It’s the wolves telling the chicken what’s on for dinner.
Marco: You have to admit that some democracies work better than others. To just paint all of the world's democratic systems (whatever those systems may look like) with the same paintbrush is just ignorant.
You've shared your opinion: the US democratic system is a sham. But if the US system is what you call a sham (or in your words 'not real'), what country in the world shows greatest progression towards true democracy in your opinion? Which world has the most 'real' democratic system today?
hahahahaha.....you think you're funny??? lol
Ryan:No, absolute democracy does not exist and minor democracy does not exist. What we have is a bourgeois democracy. That means that, whoever we vote for, they will always pander to their rich bosses...not the people who elected them!
What's with the sudden hostility, West Bay?
You know nothing
Marco: I got that. But where in the world is there a working democracy?
Ryan: Let me try and say this in another way. (A Rigged election is no election at all. The entire US voting system is rigged by the elitists to keep their control over their "subjects" in this so-called "democratic" society. A controlled society is not a free society at all. A fake democracy is no democracy at all) (:
more drone attacks now that Obama won
^I'm not saying American democracy is perfect (far from it), but what example would you share of a nation with a working democracy?
Ryan: Most people believe the US elections are real. They either vote Republican or Democrat in a two party system, not realizing that the Illuminati elitists control both.
Really doesn't matter which candidate wins, since the rich elite bankers and business tycoons like the Rothschilds, Rockefellers and Morgans own them all.
^Welcome to QL. Reminds me of that scene at the beginning of A Space Odyssey; the one when the monkeys are hitting each other with bones.
If you all end up in Hell within the next four years I will not feel bad seeing as I am already there just knowing I am surrounded by such ignorance. Go educate yourselves before you try to be witty, there is such thing as grammar and spell check, that might help some of you out ...
Khanan, Pakistan does not get any special benefits from Obama, except end of Osama's episode.
They need to see a change (using trial and error method).
Marco, what evidence is leading you to that conclusion?
UKEngQ, yep lol
Mainu ke farak penda
(does it really matters?)
May this will help American Indians to save their jobs and US will continue passing BPM to India, to sustain Indian economy.
Obama got a chance to make REAL Change :D
Well now that Obama has won hopefully the media coverage will die down and we can get on with our lives!
Its not like anything is/was going to be any different!
OBAMA WON
WAY TO GO OBAMA!!!!!
i am sure they already have chosen one o_O secretly through the electoral college. Whoever the elites choose is going to be America’s next president.
why some of Pakistani politicians are supporting Romney.
is it a coincidence that Republicans are in power whenever there is a military take over of Pakistan.
From general Ayub Khan to Zia-ul-Haq (Regan) and Prevez Musharaf (Bush).
The only two countries favoring Romney are Pakistan and Israel ?
iT's true that most voters oppose Obama's major policies and consider unsatisfactory the very sluggish economic recovery - And my sense is that Pennsylvania and Michigan will move in tandem – probably for Obama, but together in any case...WHOM DO U THINK WILL WIN???
ROMNEY..............
@Spock here's a more amusing one..... "the world's future depends on you" some people think the world revolves around America, well pity pity ,I guess we all going to die by a friendly fire from America, confusing a tomahawk for a nuke.
OBAMA!!
QatarLiving and logic? That was the best laugh since I've left my planet.
I am surprised at the bigotry of MODs of this site. If you discuss topic about India , Pakistan or Bangladesh, they simply delete it saying this is QATARLIVING. B***ch please, this is not AMERICALIVING, if you follow the idiotic logic.
vote wisely fellow americans.
the world's future depends on you.
http://www.qatarliving.com/node/6201601
Hmmm! Majority for obama? Well americans think the other way. It'll be Romney, I guess.
as we've seen with Obama, the President is a figurehead. The policies are made by penpushers and lobbygroups..
well judging from the elections of *shrugs* George W Bush.
Now we only have to let each of them pass an IQ test, the lowest score will win!
Who cares? like if anything will ever change! There will always be "foreign policy"
I guess: Americans will give Obama another chance to fulfill his promises
Supercool - in that case please tell what is the difference b/w these two Goldman Sachs employees?
Obama is a (:yag
Please, don't get fooled again America! Obama is and has been a joke and has no leadership ability.
wy this US citizen is drinking Mexican beer,...because US beer sucks ??? ;)
i say OBAMA more good done in the last 4 years as what was screwed up in the 8 years before ;)
arrival of a new killer
But to an outsider like me, US foreign policy matter the most.
Both Bush Era (Repulican) were one of the bloodiest as compare to Clintons' and Obama.
As an earlier poster mentioned, Mitt might bring along WW III.
@ Victory_278692
Let's not deviated from the topic shall we???? Good and bad ppl exist in every society....DON'T GENERALIZE PLZ and let's stick to the topic of discussion
Right mr Cool for Americans, it is by the Americans (people), to the (Americans) people and ONLY for the Americans (people). Let rest of the World suffers.
Obama!
Just sharing something I just received
Romney: 8 million Americans still have no power!!!
Obama: 8 million and one
hehehehe
For Those who asked, it goes without saying that as a sane person all my hopes and prayers go to Obama of course, but knowing how many backward thinking, money hungry, religious nuts and conservatives there r who have the right to vote it's hard to expect the outcome. It's kindda like expecting the best man to win, when the voting mass is dominated by cannibals hehehe!!!!
Supercool..ur really right..
Obama. It is not so easy to bring a massive change
in few years.
I believe there will be a 3rd world war if
Mitt Romney wins the election.
@ Quixote
Having lived about half of my life in the States let me ASSURE u that VAST MAJORITY of Americans r absolutely unaware of that fact and don’t know anything about what's happenning in the outside world. They know as much about the rest of the world as they know about the moon!!! So, unfortunately it doesn’t count although it truly should
Obama has done the best possible with what he inherited
who trust poltician promises.
dota u shld hate politicians not politics
Obama promised so much and delivered very little. Time for a change .
I hate politics!
Osama !
Half the US population dont care about? Both are more or less same.
My vote for Obama!
Obama!
I am sceptical about the polls - Look at the polls and the sample size is always less than 3000 (in a country with a population of 300 million). From a European perspective I think there is only one positive outcome - Obama. In his first term of office he has done more to try to integrate The States into the global community. Cannot comment on the local politics.
