Some adventurous activities in Qatar for the outdoor type

Those who know very little about Qatar will be surprised at the amount of interest these desert plains show on sports.

If you are new to Qatar and happen to be a sports fanatic, then you are in the right country. For, Qatar brims with various kinds of sporting activities for all sport lovers.

While here’s a list of the parks in Qatar that a sport lover should go to, you could also join a sports club.

There are numerous sports clubs in Qatar, and the government website Hukoomi has more details on them and their contact information.

However, if you’re looking for some adventure and outdoor activities to do in Qatar, then the following might help you-

#- Windsurfing and kitesurfing

Both windsurfing and kitesurfing are extremely popular in Qatar. Both Fuwairit Beach, around 80 km north of Doha and the lagoon at Zekreet are well known spots for windsurfing and kite surfing.

#- Rock climbing

Bir Zikrit on the west coast of Qatar and north of Dukhan, contains some amazing rock formations that are waiting to be climbed.

#- Sailing

If you’re a prolific sailor or want to learn sailing, then the Doha Sailing Club is the right place for you. Learn more about joining the club through its official website.

#- Dune bashing

Very popular among Qataris and expats, dune bashing is a must-try activity in Qatar. Along the road that takes you straight to the Sealine Beach Resort are kilometres of dunes that are ideal for bashing. You’d find a stretch of quad bike stalls where you can rent one with your friends and hop on.

#- Diving

The waters of Gulf are home to some beautiful marine life.  The Inland Sea at Udaid has an abundance of fish and is a sheltered area with small reefs.

Those looking for wreck diving should head to Al-Sharqi near Halool Island. Around the metal wreck submerged here there are lots of fish, including clown fish.
