Be Ready ...Medical test will need to be done regularly soon

THE labour law is likely to be amended soon to make periodical medical check-up compulsory for all expatriate workers in Qatar, head of the Labour Department, Abdullah al-Muhannadi, said yesterday.
According to the plan currently under study, the check-ups would be linked to renewal of the residence permit.

The medical check-up would be mandatory for all without exception. He said the move aims to protect society from disease.
“If companies violate the law, they will be given one month’s grace period to correct their behaviour, before taking legal action.”

The official said that violating companies would be removed from the “blacklist” once they complied with the law.
He said his department plans to open new branches in places such as Shahaniya and Ruwais.
On the long-awaited new sponsorship law, he said it would “stabilise” the relationship between the employer and employee in a way that protects the rights and duties of both.

So the RP does not get renewed??? ..... then you will soon have an expired RP....

Do you get be treated here or are you sent home the next day?

Will you get a temporary stay visa until you get treated and pass the medical test?

Will the companies carry the burden of the medical costs since you contracted the disease here while your RP was valid?

It is good to have an annual medical checkup (our company has) since we are not getting younger but this should not be a reason to terminate your employment or cancel your visa outright if the disease is curable.

from the first time expats took the medical exams, they might have acquired HIV after that and never been checked. so with this periodic check up, this will protect us and they should get medical attention, i suppose they arent aware of this.

i agree with this medical check up should be annual to monitor diseases and prevent from spreading. i dont know how true is this but i heard there is a rising rate of HIV infected expats.
