Computer programming
I have decided to upgrade my skills by learning computer programming. I don't come from engineering or mathematics background. I have started working on my goal by watching online video tutorials of MIT website about LISP & 'scheme'. I am finding it pretty tough. These are 1986 tutorials. Are they too outdated? Is there any other better way to learn programming for beginners? Your suggestions will be highly appreciated because I wish to learn it real badly.
Thanks again blue & Nishant. I have found a book basic programming for dummies & I will definitely find Dennis Ritchie book. I use computers . That's all. I know how the keys function. That's all.But I will learn anything else which is a prerequisite.
Calculus is not a must to learn programming but is definitely an added advantage.
As for a good book or website, google is ur best option. Let us C by Dennis Ritchie (the creator of C) is a very good book to learn C programming.
I hope you atleast have a computer science background and know the basics of computers and OS etc.
C is easy but C++ its difficult..even a single comma will make differnce in whole program. u can learn it started with the begining of computer science concepts.
Also, is calculus a must for learning programming? Becuse if it is so, then I will first take a course in calculus.
Thanks nishant. Can you recommend a good book or website?
its better you take up programming with VB or VC to start with. C and C++ would help you as well. dont expect miracles though.
