Have you heard this before?

There is a gossip I have just heard, which is quite surprised me and I don't know whether it is true. In Doha, Dubai or Abu Dhabi, if someone get seriously injured on the job site, the director or the safety person who look after that job will go to jail until the government works out who should be blamed for the incident. Also this type of laws in UAE are much tougher than in Qatar.

Has anyone heard simillar topics before, or has it ever happened to someone you knew in real life? appreciated all your responses

the stories I heard are that the people were put in jail after incidents and their passports were taken away from them even though the investigation of the incidents have not completed, one of them was in jail for few days, another one for few months. I heard in Qatar the safety standards are not as high as most of western countries and the accidents are commonly happened on the sites, either small or big ones, if this is the case, why people take jobs in the regions for such responsibilities, is the money worth it or something else. in your friend's case, if it was not his fault, why he was suffered, and why he still stay there after what happened to him. this is really confused me.
