Holiday on Thu, Feb. 17, for UAE private sector
By Yahoo! Maktoob
DUBAI (Yahoo!) – The Labour Ministry has declared Thursday, Feb. 17 a public holiday for the private sector in the United Arab Emirates to mark the birthday of the Prophet Mohammad, state news agency WAM reported.
The government had already declared Feb. 17 a holiday for employees working in ministries and federal bodies.
The prophet’s birthday actually falls on Tuesday, Feb. 15, but the government moved the holiday forward by two days because it falls between two working days.

There will not be any holiday in QATAR..
I remember, when i was working before, my ex-company was having its headoffice in dubai..All DUBAI staff used to enjoy this holiday but we(qatar employees of the same company)never used to get...:(
cake!
Oops! Forgot where I was, everybody forget I mentioned 'cake'. Cakes get a bad rap in Qatar. :P
happy, sorry, I can't elaborate...it was whispered to me in confidence.
so there are 50% chances that they didn't say celebration...
Yes they did. It was like this " pssst, pssssssssst....and then there was some mumbling......and another pssst, pssst.....". Very mysterious!!!
Some people say the religion bans the celebration of birthdays - but here we are hearing the government is celebrating a birthday by giving the people the day off?
Madness. No consistency.
I'm so jealous...have fun Pilgram :-)
Ok ok stop rubbing it in :(
I'll be celebrating! On the world's fastest rollercoaster! YYEEEYY
I hope the wheel falls off :O(
This is haram. If his birthday is on the 15th then it should be celebrated on the 15th. They make him younger than he is!
Yeeaaaahhhh bbbeeatcchhes :) I'm going to Ferrari World!
