How to claim back salaray due?

So the situation is such. My hubby came back from Qatar towards the end of September. He was not given his balance salary when he left. (BTW, half his salary is always given to me here where we live...I have never had any problems getting it)

So now they owe him half for the month of September2010. He is no longer with the company. We have been trying since the beginning of Nov to claim back whats owed but to no avail. They just give excuse after excuse. I feel they have no intention of paying as he is here and they are there in Qatar.

Where can I get help regarding this issue? My husband has tried calling them and now they dont even take his calls. I sent them an email 2 days ago and also got no response...gonna try calling them instead later in the day.

Is there like a ministry of Labour or something that deals with employee issues? If so, where is the website or a number i could call?

he cannot get back the salary if he is not coming to qatar as he didnt inform that he will not come back. He shall have many responsibilities before leaving the company permanantely like handing over the work to the next executive and mail forwarding etc...

As he didnt resign then who will pay the company the extra visa charges for the available month of visa expiration...

Company has heired him for work, if he left in between without informing then the companies takes time to adjust next person on this position. May be for 3 months. So who will pay that 3 months salary ....

You have to pay to the compnay ... not the company...

All i can say is if the company he worked in was a reputed one they will never ask him to clain this 1/2 month salary later, it would have been settled when he left. It is clear that the company is a SUBSTANDARD ONE and no matter what you try it may be difficult and i suggest think that some one has CHEATED you and look ahead at finding a suitable job. i am sorry as i know you are not going to get but waste money on phone and letters.

God bless

Your hubby should have signed something when he left to say he was accepting all he was owed to him. If the figures don't add up you maybe have a claim, but trying to get it from outside Qatar is 99.99% impossible

Cannot claim anything other than whats due. its really a hard to explain case. He didnt sign any termination letter nor did he resign. He was just told by one of the "directors" to return here since there were so much internal politics and no one could give definate answers on the "future" of the company. This guy is also having trouble getting the money paid to us(he is the one who pays me without fail half..which was the verbal aggreement made)..he has been helping to the best of his ability.

you don't have to claim for the salary only, but you have to claim for the end of service allowance too.

don't write it off, keep on trying, send emails, sms and let them fedup of your demands and i hope that you will get your rights in full

oh i forgot to add, I thought of sending lawyer letters but was told from lawyers here they cannot help as we would need to engage a lawyer in Qatar itself to do that work

Leon - They are outside Qatar!!!!

Satine - Just write it off. You don't stand a chance of getting it if you have gone home.
