Looking for informations !
I'm a 30 years yold belgian married man.
I've lived in Qatar for nearly 10 years during the 80's and went to the french school of Doha.
Nowadays, I'm working in a real estate company as an account manager in Luxemburg.
I'm interested in coming back in Doha to work but it's quite difficult to get some serious informations about the today way of life, accomodation & car prices, minimum salary, ...
If anybody can give me some links, answers or references, that would be nice !
Thanks & regards
Stephan

Dear Stephan and Sesame,
I am living here in Qatar since 1991 and I think I can provide you some answers about your questions.
Life, it is much more diiferent than you remember in yout childhood, it is very booming country now and there are so much constructions are going aroung and it became very crowded nowadays, also there are many malls and nice shops beside many sports activities running here every month.
Accomodation, this will depened on your need, if you are looking for an apartment then your budget should start from QR 6,000 and Villas start from QR 10,000, if you want to share with someone then you can save some of those amounts.
Car prices, leasing for a reasonable car start from QR 1,500 such as Mitsibushi Lancer or Nissan Sunny.
Minimum salary, this is difficult cause it is vary and it also depened on your lifestyle which you used to live in your home country.
By the way, I am working as a real estate agent and I will be glad to help you finding the right accomodation you are looking for, you can email me at [email protected]
Also I can guide you to some good leasin car agents in Doha if you need it.
Welcome to Qatar,
Ayman
Welcome! Not sure if you have been offered a position with company paid housing. If you are expected to find your own housing then you'll need a lot of lucky charms in your baggage!
hello to everyone!
i find this site very informative on topics regarding almost everything about qatar. soon, this 17th i'll be working in qatar and i hope it'll be as pleasant as i've expected.
WoW!
Stephen, are you still there?Let us hear about you..So what did you dicide?
Sesame,
You can expect to pay more around 6,000 for a 2 bedroom.
I pay 3500 for a studio, so house prices aren't cheap!
Sorry Sasame,
I havn't got any answers at the moment and your asking the same questions as me! I hope we both find the answer soon. If I hear anything, I let you know.
Good luck!
Hello
Good day
I wil be shifting to Qatar shortly - I would like to know the Prevailing Rent for 1 Bed or 2 bed roon Villa or Flat in & around Doha.
Kindly help.
Hello Butterfly,
First of all, I thank you for your reply which will help me to find the information I'm looking for.
My motivation for Doha has two topics. On the first hand, I've lived in Doha during my childhood, and even if there are now 10 years that I hav'nt been in Qatar, I'm still in Love with this country. On the other hand, my parents who were working there are still telling me that Doha is paradise, and that the've spent there the greatest time of their life. So I'm interested to evaluate if there are some opportunies to do some good business, to give my wife the happiness she deserve, and give my future children the best thinks in the world!!
I know I'm asking a lot of things! lol....but I need that to take the best decision!
However in the few words above I've opened my heart, I thank you again for your reply and wish you all the best!
Stéphan
Good Morning Stephan,
It strikes me that 25 people have read your post but no-one has bothered to reply...Pretty much the attitude that I often find here. If, lets say, I am trying to cross the road, drivers will slow down to look at me, but no-one will actually stop and help... Anyway, just got me thinking...
So, I am not the most appropiate person to give you information about this country, since I have been here for only few months and I'm still trying to find my way.
I find that I get plenty of info about Qatar by reading the papers, so you get to know about developments, social interests, etc.
try these websites:
www.gulf-times.com
www.thepeninsulaqatar.com
These have also a classifies seccion where you can see about house prices, second hand car prices and jobs vacancies.
I hope it helps. And I hope someone else can provide more info. Good luck
