Do I still need an NOC to transfer to another company if I resigned after 5 years of continuous work? Some say its automatic, no need for NOC. I plan to take a break for 6 months then go back to Qatar again.
It solely depends on your initial contract tenure. If it was 2 years, as per the new amendment to the labour law, you have worked double the term and you can demand your release/NOC. If it was an open contract (5 years), you have to work 5 more years to make you eligible. You may also plead mercy from God & the employer. Wild Turkey would be right otherwise. All the best.

Thanks! I will try that also.
I think you have served enough to have your NOC/release demanded. Approach the Labour Dept. with all relevant documents and proofs. Cheers!
More likely I will have the 2 years break. I have been asking NOC for sometime now. Original contract 2 years.

Without NOC your "break" will be two years.
