Questions about Leaving my job - and all related issuess

This has been bugging me for a few days, so I could get really detaile din my description. Leeping this in mind, I shall put my problem up in point form:

1. I work for a reputable (non petro-chemcal or gas) company in Qatar. Think one of the really big names in Qatar.

2. I hate my job.

3. I have a shoddy mix of managers and supervisors, who once in while get into a mood of screwing others.

4. I am still in my probation period, 3rd month of a 6 month long probation.

5. I want to leave my job.

6. But I am concerned about a letter of release.

7. What does the labour code say about this issue? If I am on probation, and was on visit visa before they hired me, what is my right when I approach them with a resignation?

8. Will teh ministry of labour ban me from working here for 6 months-1 year?

9. Does my probationary period undercut their right to ban me?

10. Am I stuck in the job, with the only option being that I pay off my credit and buy a ticket for home as soon as possible?

11. I do have someone else interested in hiring me, but this the first topic they raised.

Please help. I am finding it hard to talk to anyone about this, because I really don't want people in my company to know that I am thinking of leaving.

thanks for you help, in advance.

...i joined a intl construction company now more than 2 years..and I have resigned due to multiple reasons. my spouse on my personal sponsorship works for a good company ..she too has resigned. But now she has a offer from a reputed group...to join them and they would offer a work visa. As we will be returning home with our respective RPs cancelled ..can my spouse return on a new work visa from her potential employer...and then can I immediately join her on a family visa issued for her.

KINDLY ADVICE..SOS PLEASE :O)

Canuk try looking out for a Job in UAE or wait for the sponsorship rules to change.

P.S. make sure your contract is a local contract not a foreign contract(Its all in the words no matter whether you are recruited

from abroad or from here)

Rajud resign from your company. If poddiblr you van come on business visa and work till the two years get over or

sponsorship rules change which ever is earlier.

I will try to answer your questions 1 by 1 as I know from immigration point of view.

1. I work for a reputable (non petro-chemcal or gas) company in Qatar. Think one of the really big names in Qatar.

No comment does not matter what the company is but who the sponcer makes a big difference.

2. I hate my job.

sorry. have to live with that.

3. I have a shoddy mix of managers and supervisors, who once in while get into a mood of screwing others.

same in almost all the places.

4. I am still in my probation period, 3rd month of a 6 month long probation.

Doesn't matter at all to the authorities.

5. I want to leave my job.

You take the risk of getting bad counter measures.

6. But I am concerned about a letter of release.

I see no way u r getting one.

7. What does the labour code say about this issue? If I am on probation, and was on visit visa before they hired me, what is my right when I approach them with a resignation?

Yes you were under the visit visa when u came here. but they converted your visit visa to R/P now. (if the case is)you have no right to ask for change of sponcership now.

8. Will teh ministry of labour ban me from working here for 6 months-1 year?

You wll be banned for 2 years.

9. Does my probationary period undercut their right to ban me?

Absoulutly NO.

10. Am I stuck in the job, with the only option being that I pay off my credit and buy a ticket for home as soon as possible?

Yes with their permission.

11. I do have someone else interested in hiring me, but this the first topic they raised.

Yes that will be the 1st question from any of the Employers here.

Please help. I am finding it hard to talk to anyone about this, because I really don't want people in my company to know that I am thinking of leaving.

Better serve 1st 2 years make a good rapo with your sponcer and ask for a release then. Remeber even if you get the release now you are required to serve for your present company for at least 2 year for change of sponcership.

Well I think I know who you work for. After all, there is really only ONE big name in Qatar.

If you work where I think you work, my advice is this: start making connections, especially with the Administration. Even though your immediate bosses can do whatever they want depending on their mood, there is a constant power struggle going on with all the other bosses. Make as many connections as you can and try to ease yourself out of it. Kiss some ass if you have to, because the people here love that.

You'll lose some pride, of course, but you can't have your cake and eat it too!

if this company has a say or anywhere near connected to ur current visa while in qatar, then it might not be good news. theres a link here posted regarding visas, maybe it has the info u want as well..

sounds like the advantage of probationary period seems to only extend to the employer there:( hope u get good news soon

I have a residence permit under this company's name. I was not brought from outside to work for them, I was here on visit, and applied for the job, and got it.

And is there any consideration for the probationary. From what I am gathering, I basically have to get fired to have nay chance of working in Qatar once I leave this job. That sounds really stupid to me. Probationary periods should give both employee and employer the right to walka way from the contract.

If you are brought to doha by he company on their visa then you will have to work with them for 2 years to get a sponsorship change.
