Working for Qatar Airways

Tally1
By Tally1

I have recently attended interviews for Qatar Airways and am waiting to hear back if I am successful.
Have been doing a little research on forums and am getting aloooot of bad feedback about working for the airline. Anyone who has RECENT experience, or currently work there who can give me their opinion?
Am I better off waiting for Emirates or Etihad?

The aviation field is a pressurized industry.Things can very easily fall off the tracks if a certain level of professionalsm and discipline is not maintianed.Perhaps QR has recognised that a certain level of the above is vital to their success...so I say good luck to QR and all of their staff who indentify and adapt to the company culture. It's only natural that those that dont ,wont last-.Perhaps a company with a different outlook to business would suit them better.

Lastly ,"if we were not there when something happend,we should not invent it with our small minds and spread it withour huge mouths."

P.s -....and no...Im not a QR employee :)

Tell me EK/ EY fly the type of passengers that your OZ airline flies too? If it were about pax and you did your homework, you'd know that QR, EK, EY, GF and all the ME carriers fly the same traffic.

And yes you're damn right QR is strict and that is why it's up there. They don't take nonsense from women who think they can come here to party, report sick for flights due to a hang-over and then bytch about the airline.

I am never like this unless rubbed wrongly and you struck a wrong nerve when you publically mentioned stuff that I preciously told you in confidence in a PM and that too just so that you were not influenced by the negativity. My PM was in no way indecent or vulgar for you to misconstrue it and make mockery of it.

And I said it later in the forum that it's good you decided against it, coz you'll at least let some more deserving person get the job who will be thankful for it.

Colt...thats so true... had most of us did take the trouble to look up for how the life in Qatar would be before coming here we wouldnt be hearing never ending rant as to how bad life in this country is...but then sometimes we realise things after we get into it rather than from outside...even if somebody said so.

It's because women like her don't take the time off nor the trouble to look up stuff about the company they're going to interview for.

But yet after they go and waste the interviewers time and money, they brand it as "BAD" just from hearsay... :-(

And to think of late a whole bunch of OZ's have joined the airline. But this trolley-dolly thinks she's a cut above the rest. Effin racist troll!

By Colt45• 5 Sep 2010 21:49
Colt45

Bad reputation, from who? From some of the imbeciles here who can't tell their head from their butt and who don't know what running an airline operation is all about, but yet never cease to put in their two pence worth of bs... and why? "because they heard so".

If it had a bad reputation, QR would not be where it is today. Can you say the same for the Oz airline you're flying for? I have attended numerous conferences wherein a lotta my oz friends desperately wanna get in here, because of the economic situation the Oz airlines are in. Has your airline filed for bankruptcy yet?

It's just a case of sour grapes for some folks over here, who obviously don't know what they're talking. You work when you are required to work and party when you are required to party. unfortunately some of the crew think flying is one big party and that is what lands them in a soup. That is when the bad-mouthing starts.

I'm done talking to you about this and seriously hope you don't get short-listed, simply because you will be a misfit here and also you will ruin someone elses chances who is more deserving of the job.

Actually the whole population is mostly Asian.. The reason why there are few Australians here is that standing the right way up doesn't suit them ;)

By Tally1• 5 Sep 2010 11:35

and you just keep proving it over and over again... I'm a possible future employee and you're telling me I'm an ungrateful bytch? a "typical pea-sized brain Trolly Dolly".

If your airline didnt have such a BAD reputation, it wouldnt have been a waste of time or money. There's a reason most of your employees are asian, and there are only a handful of Australians.

Again, you're management, you should not be talking to me or other people the way that you are. Highly unprofessional

I havent heard fro QR because they wont get back to me for another week.

There's no need for the personal insults.

When I went for the job, I didnt realise it had such a bad reputation amongst crew. I wanted some direct feedback from recent experiences.

I dont believe you're in management like you say you are, because if you were, you wouldnt be talking to me this way. Not doing a good job at convincing me I do want the job, if this is the way management treat possible employees

Thank you everyone for your replies!

I actually am already Cabin Crew in Australia, so the training and flying experience is not what I am after.

I think that Colt... apparently being management, and the way they're acting on this thread is enough to confirm my doubts...

You say go, get trained up, if I hate it resign... and pay back the money I will owe?

In Australia we have a saying... go with your instincts... and every part of me is saying DON'T DO IT!!!

and she's been with QA for 6 years as an air crew (woman). MAybe when they are in Qatar, the rules is strict (actually, different person, different level of view). But she speaks a lot of things she gets from QA including travel privileges for her parents. If you are committed to your work, you have to follow the rules strictly. No need to complain. As the saying said, go out first and then talk. But what's the need to talk if you're already out!

I am also waiting for feedback after an interview in Doha for a Revenue Management Analyst position in QA. After reading this thread I am a little bit discouraged. The same situation for cabin crew applies for office positions also? I would deeply appreciate some feedback from you guys (and girls :) ) if you have any insight info.

Many thanks in advance

Why discourage her with all the negativity when no one knows the truth for a fact right?

Like I said in my 1st post, at least she will get trained and gain some experience from it, even if she resigns.

Why wait for EK/ EY, when it's not a given that they will short-list her?

Colt..you seem all charged up this morning..are you or any of your family members working in QA? :P

everyone complains about the organizations they work for..its human nature i guess...but you still find them working there for 10 yrs!! if QA was so bad, then they would not have grown so fast and so popular in such a short time...they have strict rules and regulations, agreed, but if you work for a company, you have to follow the rules.

I disagree that the cabin crew is always working and not resting...I had to go to them when I needed help with the useless bassinet that was given for my 2 month old baby as no one responded to the call bell...

back to the topic..i would suggest that if you are offered a job in QA and the package is good, then go for it. It has a very good reputation worldwide.

"i see the crew they get drunk and also get into trouble ..... all you will hear is complain complain"

Let me guess here, the ones out getting drunk and complaining are the ones getting sacked? No surprise there then is there?

Tally - QR, is the same as EK etc. All the staff are treated the same. even EK have security on the staff accommodation. If there was an EmiratesLiving site you'd most likely get the same complaints on there too. At the end of the day, it's your decision and yours alone. QR are not bad.

Oh yeah, not all passengers are a55holes with the call button, but I guess that applies to all airlines.

Nothing is gonna change by you feeling sorry. This is how things are in Qatar Airways and it will only get better. Remember it's a 5* Airline.

All you may have ever gone to is Cloud 9 for "desi night". Well lemme tell you that place sucked BIG time and I'm happy it got shut down. That was crappiest excuse for a bar/ pub, whatever you may wanna call it.

If you don't know what happened to the crew who got hit by the land cruiser, don't talk. Like a wise man once said, "Better to shut it and be thought a fool, than to open it and confirm doubts". I'm not condoning the drivers fault here, but it was more her fault for crossing the road, when she should not have. I heard they have been provided buses from the other side of the road to come across.

And regarding your BS about women complaining to you about working, it must have been your Goan girls only who are used to sitting on the fat of their A and not working, so when they come here and are asked to work, it's a tad too much for them.

If it was like that, there would not be any crew working for Qatar Airways. What happened to your friend, does not necessarily have to happen to all the rest. Maybe she was complacent in her work or did something really bad that she was sent packing.

I say if you get a call for QR, go for it. Do not fall for the negativity on the forum. If you don't like it and can't cope with the social life, you always have the option of resigning.

Look at the brighter side, you will have had the training and the experience, that will hold you in good stead, rather than wait for a call from other airlines in the region, which you are not sure will happen.
