Description
A fire safety system technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fire safety equipment and systems. This may include fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and fire suppression systems. The technician may also be responsible for conducting inspections and tests to ensure that the systems are functioning properly. Other duties may include providing training to building occupants on how to use fire safety equipment and responding to emergency situations.
The technician may work in a variety of settings, including commercial buildings, residential buildings, and industrial facilities. They may work independently or as part of a team, and may be required to travel to different job sites. The technician should have strong problem-solving and communication skills, as well as a thorough understanding of fire safety regulations and codes. A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required for this role, and technical training or certification in fire safety may be beneficial.
