1000 taxis lying idle

Karwa proof of lack of taxis – Who are you trying to kid!

Hi,

These photos below were taken yesterday at midday at Karwas facility in the Industrial Area. They clearly show the reason there are no taxis available on the roads.
There are in the region of 800-1000 taxis up there gathering dust, as I suspect they cannot get drivers for them due to their pay structures. There are around 4 different massive lots of Taxis lying idle that would put a US auto lot to shame! So never mind the stories in the press about 2000 taxis as there may be half of them sitting idle.

The company does not offer salaries anymore to drivers, instead they make them rent the cars. The drivers have to pay 296 (if im not mistaken) to Mowasalat when they take the car out. They can have it for 11 hours. But they are provided with accomodation.

Its a two way issue... the company stopped giving salaries because it noticed that some drivers are giving less income than they should. Basically they dont run the meter and put in their pockets the money. At the same time, I think 296 is a bit too steep to earn everyday.

Hopefully they sort this thing out. Because some of the Karwa drivers now are really a big headache.

Karwa is making money on the Limousine....why would they ...ply the normal cab.

It could have been understandable if both the normal cab and the limousine was equally unavailable. But that is NOT THE CASE.

The limos are available round the clock ....while the normal cab is available only if you book it overnight...and then also it might not arrive on time.

Karwa is exploiting their Monopoly.

And thanks jockaroo for the proof.
