Hello guys im new here, I just have my final interview 2 days ago, and I got the job. The basic salary offer is 7500, transporation allowance is 1300, basic housing allowance is 3500 ,supplementary housing allowance is 3800. My lifestyle is simple, im not a party goer, Do you think this is fair enough? will I have a decent life with this amount in qatar? How much can I possibly save from this amount? by the way Im a Filipino. All comments and advise will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No foreigner can survive on their salaries. we are all here from paycheck to payckeck hoping it will cover the next round of rent, food and schooling.

Your pay goes out as fast as it comes in.

It depends on how many family members are going to accompany you. In general cases, you salary and other package is good enough. I am working in the IT field so i can verify it as per our field as well.

Join the company and have fun. I would suggest you not to take a car or any other loan untill you work here for first 3 to 4 months. It would give you the idea about the work and environment. Spending your transport allowance on Rent a car for first 3 to 4 months is worth a million. Because once you take loan than you are stuck with it (and you know the banks).

Where do you guys find rooms for rent for that cheap? Or are you assuming it's shared? My income is 7000, I pay 4000 for rent and 2000 for my car loan, every month! I'm left with 1000 a month which is ridiculous!!! But rent is what screwed me up, stupid circumstances. Any tips for cheaper furnished studios??? The cheapest I have ever found was 3500 but they're... ahem... in the ghetto.

Its a good offer compared with others who receives 1000QAR or less.

Definitely. I could survive here by spending less than what you get for housing & transport allowances. And that includes renting my room already.

I'm also new here, still in exploring trip,

you will like doha standards, moderate life,

well, i attended this past Thursday party for Air Supply band, in Doha, it was amazing, lol

ticket prices were, 100, 200 & 300 RQ. :)

what i know is... one riyal is equal to more or less ten filipino currency. so based on that you can budget some money for remittance if u need to. other than that for a single person who lives quite a decent and normal life.. in my estimation... QRs. four to five thousand is way enough. the rest you will be left with equals more than fifty thousand filipino currency.

i hope you can now decide.

choose a house near your work, then traffic wont trouble you. house rent is cheaper now. if you want a space on your own, you can have it for qr1200 minimum. if you want to share with other filipinos its qr700 minimum.

food is not a problem. you can either shop at family food center or carrefour for fresh and dry foods. just cook on your own or share with other people. befriends with good filipinos, but dont TRUST much. thats the best advice i can give you
