Expenses in Qatar

I am a single person considering a job offer in Qatar. My housing will be provided, but I have questions about other expenses. For example, I will be given QR 1,500 per month to rent a car. Is this enough? If not, how much more should I request? Also, I am being asked to pay for my own utilities and will be approaching my employer to ask them to cover this expense, which I am sure is considerable. In a 3 bedroom apartment, how much can I expect to pay per month? Lastly, my basic monthly salary will be around QR 20,000. If I live reasonably (going out once a week, say) will l I be able to put money aside (which is the goal)? At first glance the offer seems attractive, but I know that in many parts of the world (Japan) it would be insuffficient. Any advice? ... Thanks, all!

If you will be resourceful enough and you will be smart to manage your finances....and since you are single, your QR20t will go a looooooooooooooong way.

Car rental ranges from 1500-1800. If you would like to have your own car ---not a flashy one -- you can get it for 12t-20t. There are also cheaper cars in industrial area, just bring a very good mechanic who will check everything for you. Better yet, go to car showrooms where there are 2nd hand cars ranging from 30t-40t.

For 3 BR/2 bathroom flat - it's ranging from 5t-7t, depending on the location and condition of the building. You can choose fully furnished, semi-furnished or unfurnished flat.

Food & grocery stuff--it's affordable. You can always eat in any restaurants or food chains in the vicinity of your place.(if ever)

Hope it helps..

Good Luck!!

a small car you can rent for 1700-1900. consider to purchase a 2nd hand car if you plan to stay over 18 months. you get good deals between 40-50k for good mid size car and SUV.

20k sufficient... unless you have 2 btl chateau Margaux a week

utilities incl Internet, TV, Phone will be max 1000k depending on your options

enjoy and come.. bring loads of books :)

As a single your expences should not exceed 5000 QR and the money for the car will cover the rent, unless you want a 4x4 which is more expensive (for this amount you could also buy one ) Good Luck ! -
