I also live in Kharatiyat (almost 3 years now), and I walk alone at night with the kiddies no probs. It is quiet, and a 5 minute drive from Landmark (hooray for the new Carrefour!!).

As others have previously said .. Every place in Doha is safe ..

and Kharaitiyat is a fantastic place to live in .. it is considered in the outskirts of Doha and a very quiet place.

Our company accommodation is in Khartiyat and I could say that it's a safe place to live in. The only problem we encounter everyday is the travel time to and from our workplace coz I'm working in the new airport. Since that's not the issue here, it's really safe in-deed coz of less traffic. The other thing we're worrying is the bully kids (I don't know if Qataris or not) who tend to intimidate passers-by especially non-arab guys.
